Week 2 Review: Love at First Spite

From Goodreads:
Falling in love is the ultimate payback in this delightful romcom about an interior designer who teams up with a mysterious architect at her firm to get revenge on her ex the only way she knows how: by building a spite house next door

They say living well is the best revenge. But sometimes, spreading the misery seems a whole lot more satisfying. That's interior designer Dani Porter's justification for buying the vacant lot next to her ex-fiancĂ©'s house…the house they were supposed to live in together, before he cheated on her with their Realtor. Dani plans to build a vacation rental that will a) mess with his view and his peace of mind and b) prove that Dani is not someone to be stepped on. Welcome to project Spite House.

That plan quickly becomes complicated when Dani is forced to team up with Wyatt Montego, the handsome, haughty architect at her firm, and the only person available to draw up blueprints. Wyatt is terse and stern, the kind of man who eats his sandwich with a knife and fork. But as they spend time together on- and off-site, Dani glimpses something deeper beneath that hard veneer, something surprising, vulnerable, and real. And the closer she gets to her goal, the more she wonders if winning revenge could mean losing something infinitely sweeter…

My Review:
Oh, I really enjoyed reading this book! I wasn't planning on reading it, but I saw that I'd downloaded it, read the synopsis, and just had to read it, and just binged it! It was so quick and easy to read, and I really enjoyed it!

I utterly loved the concept of this book! Of a woman buying land to torment her ex, is just so enticing to read, and I really enjoyed watching it play out! Of her planning things out that will specifically bother him, from a two story building to block his views, to a flag of a rival team! Because oh, was her ex an asshole who left her with issues that cause her problems in her immediate romantic future!

Her relationship with Wyatt was so much fun to read! He's closed off and aloof at the office, but as she gets to know him, well, his personality goes really well with her own! I had a lot of fun reading their interactions, and how they deal with their assumptions of each other when things start going wrong!

My one thing would be the end result of the Spite House. I loved that she healed and moved on, but the idea of her, Megan and Iris in partnership in real estate is such a great idea, because they have various areas of expertise that work well together!

This was a really great read, and I can't wait to see what Anna E. Collins writes next!
