Week 9 Review: The Cousins

From Goodreads:
#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER From the bestselling author of One of Us Is Lying comes your next obsession. You'll never feel the same about family again.

Milly, Aubrey, and Jonah Story are cousins, but they barely know each another, and they've never even met their grandmother. Rich and reclusive, she disinherited their parents before they were born. So when they each receive a letter inviting them to work at her island resort for the summer, they're surprised . . . and curious.

Their parents are all clear on one point--not going is not an option. This could be the opportunity to get back into Grandmother's good graces. But when the cousins arrive on the island, it's immediately clear that she has different plans for them. And the longer they stay, the more they realize how mysterious--and dark--their family's past is.

The entire Story family has secrets. Whatever pulled them apart years ago isn't over--and this summer, the cousins will learn everything.

My Review:
Oh, I really had a great time listening to this book! I loved that all 4 of the narrating characters had their own narrator, and how we got all these viewpoints. This story about the Story family was so interesting-because we and these characters that we're following-we don't "know what they did" that the 2nd generation got letters of.

The main bulk of this story is told in the present, of Milly, Aubrey and Jonah. And they're on this island for the very first time, the first time that they've met their grandmother and I really enjoyed watching things play out, to find out what had happened.

And then we got the perspective of Milly's mom, Allison, in the time just before they were disinherited. And watching events unfold, knowing something bad was going to happen, oh, was the tension so great!

There are so many secrets and twists and reveals and I absolutely loved it! There were of course the major ones with why the family was banished and what happened to the past-absolutely loved how that all turned out. And then there were the secrets these characters were keeping, and they all came together so well and were so easy to read!

I had a great time with this book, it was a fantastic mystery!
