Week 9 Reviews: The Ruin of Kings, The Name of All Things

My Review:
Wow, I thoroughly enjoyed reading these books! I loved this world, it was so detailed and interesting! And I really enjoyed these characters! But I think the thing I enjoyed most was the writing and the way the story was told, because wow was it so great! I loved the footnotes of the guy who was collecting the story in the first one, and the girl in the second wrote, adding further detail, or disagreeing with what had been said. It was so great!

The first book is Kihrin's story. We got two timelines, of Kihrin from when he was a slave, and then Talon telling Kihrin's story from an earlier point in his life-while they're at some unknown point in time, and she's his captor. Loved the way that it was told! 

The second story is Janel, who along with Brother Qown, are alternating narrating the events that happened to them in about the same timeline as The Ruin of Kings. And they're telling them to Kihrin. So slightly different, but another great way of telling this story! 

With both of them, these books start off with a note from the person who composed these books, who is writing the footnotes, to someone, and at first we don't know who the complier is, and in the first, we don't know who it was complied for. But that was great, because the complier is a part of each story, and we do find out who the complied for person was for book 1-it was a part of the story, and it was so great! 

Now that I'm done talking about the choices made to tell this story, I have to talk about everything else that I loved! Of course these characters, who are smart and clever, who go through some of the darkest situations! Just the scope of the world, I mean, we're dealing with the gods, or the immortals, at the very least, so the stakes are high fright from the beginning. And this is just the beginning, there's still 3 more books! I can't wait to see where it goes from here! 

These were such fantastic reads, and I'm so excited to continue the series!
