Week 17 Reviews: Wicked Abyss, Munro

From Goodreads:
This fairy tale doesn't end with a kiss… A spellbinding Immortals After Dark tale from #1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole!

The terrifying king of hell...

As a boy, Abyssian "Sian" Infernas had his heart shattered by a treacherous fey beauty who died before he could exact vengeance. Millennia later, a curse has transformed him into a demonic monster—just as she's been reincarnated. Sian captures the delicate but bold female, forcing her back to hell.

Meets his match.

Princess Calliope "Lila" Barbot's people have hated and feared Abyssian and his alliance of monsters for aeons. When the beastly demon imprisons her in his mystical castle, vowing revenge for betrayals she can't remember, Lila makes her own vow: to bring down the wicked beast for good.

Can two adversaries share one happily-ever-after?

As Calliope turns hell inside out, the all-powerful Sian finds himself defenseless against his feelings for her. In turn, Lila reluctantly responds to the beast's cleverness and gruff vulnerability. But when truths from a far distant past are revealed, can their tenuous bond withstand ages of deceit, a curse, and a looming supernatural war?

A human monster huntress. An immortal werewolf. Could any passion be more forbidden?

The next stand-alone installment in the electrifying Immortals After Dark series by #1 New York Times best-selling author Kresley Cole. Venture deeper into the Lore, fierce realm of the immortals—if you dare. . . .

TORMENTED IN UNIMAGINABLE WAYS

Coming off torture at the hands of his warlock captors, Munro MacRieve never expected to find his mate, or to lose her just as abruptly. Driven to desperation, the ruthless warrior uses his enemies' own powers to reunite with her—in the distant past.

STOLEN FROM HER TIME

When a crazed werewolf crashes her wedding, Kereny "Ren" Codrina does what any cunning huntress would do: she captures him. Yet she finds herself softening toward the wounded beast—until he turns the tables and forces her into an incomprehensible future.

CAN A HUMAN AND AN IMMORTAL UNITE IN ORDER TO SURVIVE?

As danger mounts, Munro will do anything to make her undying, even sell his soul to an evil sorceress. But first he must convince his fiery mate that she belongs with him. If seduction means her survival, Munro will use every weapon in his arsenal to possess her—forever.

My first review of Wicked Abyss
My Review:
Yeah, I've finally caught up with this series! I only went back a few books in the series for Munro, but I'm glad I did, that I got MacRieve's story before, because there was the start to this one, and got me caught up in the goings on in the world.

Wicked Abyss was another Morior book, and tied into Sweet Ruin in another way because Lia is descended from the line that Rune hunts. So that's a double whammy as to why she shouldn't trust him. And while things get complicated, they do work it out, and I'm really glad.

Munro was so good! I loved who Ren was, and how her past is making their relationship start on shaky ground. I kinda thought that his son, Tomas, would end up starting the group that Ren was a part of, it just made a sad and ironic kind of sense, but Munro didn't raise his son to end up like that, though it would've been pretty full circle.

A big part of Munro was that he wanted to make her a werewolf, and she wanted to remain human. Their battle of wills-and her feelings towards the beings of the Lore-were strong. And while I knew that things would work out, I really enjoyed watching them do so! His fear about losing her, well, he did lose a version of her right at the get go, so he is scarred from that experience.

My prediction is that Nyx is choosing the best apocalypse to go through-because it's unavoidable. The Morior go on about how she's bringing one on-but what if that's the best possible outcome? I'm pretty sure we won't get her book until the very end, which will probably include most, if not all of the Morior (including the ones not currently a part of the group) but I'm really hoping that her match is Orion!

Loved reading these books, and I can't wait for the next installment in this series!
