Week 34 Review: Nowhere on Earth

From Goodreads:
From the Printz Award-winning author of Satellite comes a compelling new novel about a girl who must brave the elements to help a lost child with an otherworldly secret.

Sixteen-year-old Emily is on the run. Between her parents and the trouble she's recently gotten into at school, she has more than enough reason to get away. But when she finds a little boy named Aidan wandering in the woods, she knows she needs to help him find his way home. But getting home is no easy matter, especially when Emily finds out that Aidan isn't even from Earth. When their plane crashes into the side of a snowy mountain, it's up to Emily to ensure Aidan and their pilot, Bob, make it off the mountain alive. Pursued by government forces who want to capture Aidan, the unlikely team of three trek across the freezing landscape, learning more about each other, and about life, than they ever thought possible.

My Review:
This was such a great read! We start off with the thriller, crashed in Alaska setting, and then we gradually get details of why they were on the plane in the first place-and why they're being chased by Men in Black (wearing white, because it's Alaska-snow!)

This book started off really intensely, with the plane crash. And the men in black shooting at them. We slowly get the backstory that's mentioned in the synopsis, while dealing with survival in the wilderness, while also being hunted. It was such a great story!

Aidan's species of alien, was pretty interesting. That their camouflage is to become something that the person wants to defend, that's a pretty cool ability. That he's her little brother, and she has to protect him, help him contact his people so that they can come and get him, it's difficult, but she preservers.

The ending was pretty great, a bit sad, but then there's the gift that Aidan left her, that every moment that ever happened, is still happening in a way, so that the time that they spent together is still happening. That was another pretty cool part of this book.

This was a really great read, and I can't wait to read more by Nick Lane!
