Week 37 Review: This Potion is Da Bomb

From Goodreads:
Yay first Queen's Own case! Yay first international case! Blowing people up with bombs, not so yay.

This is supposed to be a murder-suicide but the case smells. And not just because the dead potion maker lacks knowledge about the cure he supposedly created. Jamie's got a smoking crater of an office (and body), a queen breathing down her neck, a witness clinging to life, and no answers.

One thing she knows for certain, however–this potion is a cure to die for.

My Review:
Man, this was another fantastic read from this series! And there were plenty of new and interesting things-like this is the first Queen's Own case. It's also the first to take place on a different continent-in fact, they visit a 2nd new one, and I loved it!

This was a really intriguing mystery, right off the bat, with it looking like a murder suicide from a lover's quarrel-but the lady is engaged to someone else, and from all accounts, never spent much time with the guy. So I wanted to know what was going on!

One thing that made this book a lot of fun was the fact that Jamie was training Eddy. Using a method of bribery, as well as various interesting new things to stave off the boredom. That she starts him off on pickpocketing-and who he targets, well, that was a lot of fun to read!

When they found their viable suspect, and the clues started coming together, I was just a little bit sad. All of this pain could've been avoided, there were a number of different paths that could've been gone down, and it sucks that they weren't walked!

In that secret note, well, it's the planning stages for the engagement. Which, given that that's starting, and the parameters, I'm thinking (or maybe just wishing) that we'll get the engagement next book. Maybe even some house shopping, since their yard requirements were also mentioned. Eek!

Loved reading this book, and I can't wait for the next, especially since Jaime is getting pizza to be a thing!
