Week 45 Review: When Night Breaks

From Goodreads:
The competition has come to a disastrous end, and Daron Demarco's fall from grace is now front page news. But little matters to him beyond Kallia, the contestant he fell for who is now lost to this world and in the hands of a dangerous magician. Daron is willing to do whatever it takes to find her. Even if it means embarking on a dark and treacherous journey, risking more than just his life, with no promise of return.

After awaking in darkness, Kallia has never felt more lost. Especially with Jack by her side, the magician with who has the answers but cannot be trusted. Together, they must navigate a dazzling world where mirrors show memories and illusions shadow every corner, one ruled by a powerful game master who could all too easily destroy the world she left behind -- and the boy she can't seem to forget. With time running out, Kallia must embrace her role in a darker destiny, or lose everyone she loves, forever.

My Review:
This was such a great read! I loved the first book and it was really looking forward to reading this one! And oh, it was such an entertaining story! We learned so much more about the world, and I just couldn't put it down!

Like the first book, we mainly follow Kallia, followed by Demarco, and with little snippets of Jack's perspective. Which was really great, because at the beginning, they're separated, Kallia and Jack went inside the mirror, and Demarco was left behind, but he's desperate to try and get her back.

The main mystery for me last book was about Jack, and why he kept these secrets from Kallia. We find out why in this one, and I can understand why he kept them secret. But oh, he probably shouldn't have, because that wrecked a lot of the trust that they had!

Some really shocking reveals happened, though they were set up for it, and some of them should've been expected. They came together in such a great story! That ending, I'm a bit confused as to what happened, about how many people could travel back. So the ending was bittersweet, but so great to read!

I loved reading this book, and I can't wait to read more by Janella Angeles!
