Week 51 Review: Dance of Thieves

From Goodreads:
Mary E. Pearson's Dance of Thieves is a new YA novel in the New York Times bestselling Remnant Chronicles universe, in which a reformed thief and the young leader of an outlaw dynasty lock wits in a battle that may cost them their lives—and their hearts.

When the patriarch of the Ballenger empire dies, his son, Jase, becomes its new leader. Even nearby kingdoms bow to the strength of this outlaw family, who have always governed by their own rules. But a new era looms on the horizon, set in motion by a young queen, which makes her the target of the dynasty's resentment and anger.

At the same time, Kazi, a legendary former street thief, is sent by the queen to investigate transgressions against the new settlements. When Kazi arrives in the forbidding land of the Ballengers, she learns that there is more to Jase than she thought. As unexpected events spiral out of their control, bringing them intimately together, they continue to play a cat and mouse game of false moves and motives in order to fulfill their own secret missions.

My Review:
This was an amazing read! I loved being back in this world again, though I did wonder if I should reread the original trilogy. I managed without, though I might go back to it after I read book 2 in this series, because I do love this world so much!

It was really fantastic to be back in this world again, to see how things have changed since the end, and what hasn't yet, as well as explore some areas that we didn't get the chance to see then. Combined, both of those elements were great additions to this spin off series!

If these characters were in the original series, I don't remember, but they definitely weren't the leads like they are in this book. I really enjoyed getting to know them all! Most of the main characters of the first series were royalty, so it was great to see things from a different perspective!

This was a really interesting story, and I had a great time following along! There were some really interesting turn of events, that will be interesting to see how they'll develop in the future! I think this is only a duology, which is too bad to get such a short time with these characters, but need to read the sequel!

This was such a great book, and I can't wait to read the sequel!
