Week 1 Review Tress of the Emerald Sea

From Goodreads:
#1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson expands his Cosmere universe shared by The Stormlight Archive and Mistborn with a new standalone novel for everyone who loved The Princess Bride.

The only life Tress has known on her island home in an emerald-green ocean has been a simple one, with the simple pleasures of collecting cups brought by sailors from faraway lands and listening to stories told by her friend Charlie. But when his father takes him on a voyage to find a bride and disaster strikes, Tress must stow away on a ship and seek the Sorceress of the deadly Midnight Sea. Amid the spore oceans where pirates abound, can Tress leave her simple life behind and make her own place sailing a sea where a single drop of water can mean instant death?

My Review:
Reading this book was so freaking amazing! I love Brandon Sanderson's writing, and I was really pumped for the Secret Projects, so of course with this one coming out on the 1st, it had to be my first read of 2023! And it set such a great start to the year! I absolutely loved it!

This is set on a brand new world in the Cosmere, and the first book where Aether's play a significant part. They were first officially mentioned in The Lost Metal, but now it's a world where they're the focus, though it's not the world that they originated on. And oh, was it so fantastic to explore, what the spores from the different moons could do-and what threats that they posed! It was so interesting!

Tress was an amazing character, one who was brimming with common sense. She was smart and logical, and didn't want to impose, but as her adventures continues on, becomes more bold, and I loved to see it! That this was inspired by The Princess Bride-but that Buttercup went after Westley, yeah, it was a fantastic read!

My question is twofold-when did this take place in the Cosmere, given some of the technology that was mentioned (but that Tress's backwater planet doesn't have.) On the other hand, the other half of my question is, when is Hoid telling this story to someone in-world? And who is he telling it to? Though I think I have an idea...

This was a really fantastic read and if we get more stories on this world, that'd be so awesome, and I can't wait for the rest of the secret projects!
