Week 2 Review: Hell Bent

Wealth. Power. Murder. Magic. Alex Stern is back and the Ivy League is going straight to hell.

Find a gateway to the underworld. Steal a soul out of hell. A simple plan, except people who make this particular journey rarely come back. But Galaxy "Alex" Stern is determined to break Darlington out of purgatory—even if it costs her a future at Lethe and at Yale.

Forbidden from attempting a rescue, Alex and Dawes can't call on the Ninth House for help, so they assemble a team of dubious allies to save the gentleman of Lethe. Together, they will have to navigate a maze of arcane texts and bizarre artifacts to uncover the societies' most closely guarded secrets, and break every rule doing it. But when faculty members begin to die off, Alex knows these aren't just accidents. Something deadly is at work in New Haven, and if she is going to survive, she'll have to reckon with the monsters of her past and a darkness built into the university's very walls.

Thick with history and packed with Bardugo's signature twists, Hell Bent brings to life an intricate world full of magic, magic, violence, and all too real monsters.

My Review:
Oh man, this was such a fantastic read! WIth the way that things ended in Ninth House, I had to know what was going to happen next! The quest to free Darlington from Hell, that was the main plot of this book, and it didn't disappoint!

It was really great to be back in this world again! I loved spending this time with Alex. She's now armed with the knowledge that she's gained over the past semester, of the friends and allies that she made, in this rescue attempt. But this is a whole new game that she has to learn the rules of, and the stakes are high, because it is pretty daring! Plus she's gotten herself into a bad situation that I wanted more details of!

With the rescue of Darlington, there was a lot going on, since you know, he's in Hell, and while she's scratched the surface of death, even that was difficult. So this was a big challenge to undertake! And oh, what a ride it was, even after they succeed! This book just keeps on coming and it was just so good!

Oh, but that ending! That was pretty evil, considering! I think I read an interview Leigh Bardugo gave about this book talking about how the wait between this one and book 3 will be shorter then Ninth House and this one, but still! It's not going to be fun!

This was a spectacular read, and I can't wait for the next book!
