Week 11 Reviews: Tiger in the Cage, Stormcrow, Ink and Bone, Paper and Fire

From Goodreads:
A prequel story about the young woman who'd some day become the Obscurist Magnus: Keria Morning ... and mother to Scholar Christopher Wolfe.

Keria's world is the Iron Tower, though she longs to fly beyond those walls and away from the hothouse intrigues of all those trapped with her. But her world is about to be turned upside down by the arrival of a new, unwilling Obscurist.

Set in the world of The Great Library.

In this exclusive short story, a young Scholar is on his first mission for the Library. Nothing has prepared him for the unexpected danger that he now faces...

From Goodreads:
In an exhilarating new series, New York Times bestselling author Rachel Caine rewrites history, creating a dangerous world where the Great Library of Alexandria has survived the test of time…

Ruthless and supremely powerful, the Great Library is now a presence in every major city, governing the flow of knowledge to the masses. Alchemy allows the Library to deliver the content of the greatest works of history instantly—but the personal ownership of books is expressly forbidden.

Jess Brightwell believes in the value of the Library, but the majority of his knowledge comes from illegal books obtained by his family, who are involved in the thriving black market. Jess has been sent to be his family's spy, but his loyalties are tested in the final months of his training to enter the Library's service.

When his friend inadvertently commits heresy by creating a device that could change the world, Jess discovers that those who control the Great Library believe that knowledge is more valuable than any human life—and soon both heretics and books will burn…

From Goodreads:
Let the world burn.

With an iron fist, the Great Library controls the knowledge of the world, ruthlessly stamping out all rebellion and, in the name of the greater good, forbidding the personal ownership of books.

Jess Brightwell has survived his introduction to the sinister, seductive world of the Library, but serving in its army is nothing like he envisioned. His life and the lives of those he cares for have been altered forever. His best friend is lost, and Morgan, the girl he loves, is locked away in the Iron Tower, doomed to a life apart from everything she knows.

After embarking on a mission to save one of their own, Jess and his band of allies make one wrong move and suddenly find themselves hunted by the Library's deadly automata and forced to flee Alexandria, all the way to London.

But Jess's home isn't safe anymore. The Welsh army is coming, London is burning, and soon, Jess must choose between his friends, his family, and the Library, which is willing to sacrifice anything and anyone in the search for ultimate control…

My first review of Ink and Bone, Paper and Fire
My Review:
Oh, it was so great to be back in this world again! I loved reading this series the first time, and I'm going to try and read all the content that's available for it this time around, things that I missed, so it was great to embark on this reread!

Tiger in the Cage was really great, because we get to see Christopher's parents, their meeting, and how they came to be where they were in the main series. Stormcrow as also really great, because we see Christopher's first mission out of Egypt, and his first meeting with Santi!

Ink and Bone, it's pretty wild to read now, knowing how things end, of how much they've changed since this book. So seeing them against where they started out as really great! I enjoyed going on this journey again, though there are some really hard times!

At some point before things got to this point, the library should've allowed printing presses. They just had to be in control, and it caused a lot of pain, and a lot of effort to suppress the people, both the inventors and the rebellious, and it could've been so different!

I had such a great time reading these books again, and I can't wait to continue on!
