Week 41 Review: To Catch a Killer

From Goodreads:
Erin Blake has one of those names. A name that, like Natalee Holloway or Elizabeth Smart, is inextricably linked to a grisly crime. As a toddler, Erin survived for three days alongside the corpse of her murdered mother, and the case—which remains unsolved—fascinated a nation. Her father's identity unknown, Erin was taken in by her mother's best friend and has become a relatively normal teen in spite of the looming questions about her past.

Fourteen years later, Erin is once again at the center of a brutal homicide when she finds the body of her biology teacher. When questioned by the police, Erin tells almost the whole truth, but never voices her suspicions that her mother's killer has struck again in order to protect the casework she's secretly doing on her own.

Inspired by her uncle, an FBI agent, Erin has ramped up her forensic hobby into a full-blown cold-case investigation. This new murder makes her certain she's close to the truth, but when all the evidence starts to point the authorities straight to Erin, she turns to her longtime crush (and fellow suspect) Journey Michaels to help her crack the case before it's too late.

My Review:
I just loved reading this book! Erin's mom was killed, but Erin was left alone. I just loved this story, watching her try to investigate her mother's case, while a new one happens that just might be connected to her mother's!

That the murder of her biology teacher, someone that Erin was close to, that she finds the body, yeah, that's pretty traumatizing on top of what already happened to her. That she has some clues that make things complicated, about the secrets that she was keeping, I just had to know more!

That she gets to spend this time with Journey, was really great, because while he has his own issues, it was great for her to have this time, that while it's connected to her mom, isn't solely focused on her. Because her life needs to be more than that, so I really enjoyed reading about the pair of them.

Of course I wasn't expecting where it turned out and how it all came together! I'm glad that it worked out that way, but boy, was it close to going very wrong! But it didn't, and I'm thrilled for her, though I know she's not done investigating, since there's still Journey's case to be dealt with!

Absolutely loved reading this book and I can't wait to continue!
