Week 47 Review: Defiant

From Goodreads:
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson comes the final book in an epic series about a girl who will travel beyond the stars to save the world she loves from destruction.

Spensa made it out of the Nowhere, but what she saw in the space between the stars has changed her forever. She came face to face with the Delvers, and finally got answers to the questions she's had about her own strange Cytonic gifts.

The Superiority didn't stop in it's fight for galactic dominance while she was gone, though. Spensa's team, Skyward Flight, was able to hold Winzik off, and even collect allies to help with the cause, but its only a matter of time until humanity–and the rest of the galaxy–falls.

Defeating them will require all the knowledge Spensa gathered while in the Nowhere. But being Cytonic is more complicated than she ever could have imagined. Now, Spensa must ask herself: how far is she willing to go for victory, if it means losing herself–and her friends–in the process.

The final book in the Skyward series will free humanity, or see it fall forever.

My Review:
I absolutely loved reading this book! I've loved this series from the beginning, and while I'm sad to say goodbye to the series, it's not goodbye to the world, since we're getting Skyward Legacy! This was such a fantastic send off!

Spensa is now melded with Chet, which is something that the delvers feared. The problem is, finding out why. In the mean time, there's this actual war going on, and dealing with her not-so-bloodthirsty-in-actuality thing going on, as well as where she fits in, with these powers that she has.

I really loved watching Spensa grow over the course of this series, and she proves it throughout this book. She makes a mistake, and learns from it and doesn't repeat the behaviour, no matter how hard it was for her. And that was just really great to read!

That ending, oh man! I wasn't expecting that from Brade, but I guess I should've! I loved how that worked out! That one part of the end, oh man! That hurt! Could they not have tried remote piloting like Superiority has? I just didn't want that loss!

Now I'm wondering where the world might go from here. There's going to have to be some culture changes, about "lesser races" and  ideas about violence might have some perspectives. I'm wondering if M-Bot's pilot-and the brief mention we got there about M-Bot's creation-might play a role. Also, where the heck is planet Earth?

Loved reading this book, and I'm so excited to see what Skyward Legacy will be!
