Week 50 Reviews: Twisted Fates, Dark Stars

From Goodreads:
One past. Two girls. Infinite futures.

As far as anyone in New Seattle knows, Dorothy has disappeared. The stowaway from 1913, the girl that Ash maybe—possibly—could've loved: she's gone. And in her place is bloodthirsty Quinn Fox, silver-haired and vicious. But even though he saw her fall through the anil on their last ill-fated mission through time, Ash can't stop himself from looking for Dorothy around every dark corner. What he doesn't know, though, is that the girl he fell in love with is the very same one who is fated to kill him.

As Ash and his friends grow increasingly desperate searching for a way to head off the devastating earthquake threatening to tear down New Seattle for good, Quinn and Roman are working to take down mob boss Mac Murphy, who is attempting to use them to control time travel for his own selfish purposes. When they collide, can they change the course of the future entirely?

From Goodreads:
Dorothy finds herself completely alone.

Roman is dead. The Chronology Protection Agency wants nothing to do with her. The Black Cirkus no longer trusts her. And Ash… Ash is gone.

Dorothy has seen the evidence with her own eyes—she knows that she was the one who killed Ash. But she still has no idea how, when, or—most important—why. But the discovery of several missing pages from the Professor's journal drives a narrow sliver of hope into her heart.

Without a ship, it should be impossible for Dorothy to travel through time. But for Ash, Dorothy will do anything to not only create the present that will protect Ash—but also to save what's left of their ruined world.

The satisfying conclusion to Danielle Rollins's Dark Stars series brings new meaning to the idea that "love is timeless."

My Review:
Man, this was such a great end to the series! I wasn't sure how things were going to go, since there was all the time travel stuff, but things were planted from the beginning, and I loved how it all came together, it was just so good!

I haven't read a lot of time travel books, but in my opinion, it was done really well in this series, with the rules of how it worked, that what happened, happened, even if it happened earlier or later for different characters. So that was really great!

Twisted Fates was really great, that it dealt with Dorothy having become Quinn, and with Roman creating all this buzz about using the past to help the future. That it pulled together the mentions from the first book and made sense of them was so great!

And oh, the final book in the series! I loved how it wrapped up the mysteries, of what happened and why of Ash's pre-memory-finding out about the earthquakes, dealing with the death and the betrayal, and while I would've loved one more chapter to wrap things up to explain what they did with Roman, I'm glad how things worked out!

Loved reading this series, and I'd love to read more by Danielle Rollins!
