Week 17 Review: Lakesedge

From Goodreads:
A gothic fantasy about monsters and magic, set on the banks of a cursed lake. There are monsters in the world. When Violeta Graceling arrives at haunted Lakesedge estate, she expects to find a monster. She knows the terrifying rumors about Rowan Sylvanan, who drowned his entire family when he was a boy. But neither the estate nor the monster are what they seem. There are monsters in the woods. As Leta falls for Rowan, she discovers he is bound to the Lord Under, the sinister death god lurking in the black waters of the lake. A creature to whom Leta is inexplicably drawn… There's a monster in the shadows, and now it knows my name. Now, to save Rowan—and herself—Leta must confront the darkness in her past, including unraveling the mystery of her connection to the Lord Under.

My Review:
Well I absolutely loved reading this book! This world was so interesting, and these characters were so good, and the situation that they were in was so compelling! I really enjoyed her other book, and I definitely enjoyed this book, it was so good!

That Leta wants to protect her brother, and he has this magic that is considered dark, well, its complicated. Especially given their past, and what she gave up to the Lord Under for his survival. Which I'm annoyed at him, he should've been grateful, and she didn't have to apologize for that! For making him fear his magic, yeah, but not for giving up her own!

I really enjoyed her relationship with Rowan, it was complicated because of the curse that he's under, that he's the lord of the manor, and he's basically given her and her brother no choice but to help him fix things. But oh, they were so great together!

But the way that things ended, I need to know what's going to happen next! It seems like the problem is fixed, but new issues have arisen, and I don't know how she's going to get back safely, I mean, why would he let her go?

This was a fantastic read and I need to pick up the sequel as soon as I can! I think I just bought it so hopefully it arrives before my ARC reading month of May!
