Week 29 Reviews: The Righteous, The Ruined

From Goodreads:
Following the explosive events of The Damned, Odette faces a vampire's final death. The Court of the Lions have done everything they can to save her but have failed. A healer from the Sylvan Vale could help her, but only Arjun Desai, as a half fey, can cross the boundary between realms. The Sylvan Vale is a world Arjun despises, and in return, it despises him. But knowing it could save Odette, he returns to the Vale with all haste, leaving the mirrored tare between the two worlds open and unwittingly setting the stage for both love and war.

It's mere days until Pippa Montrose is to wed Phoebus Devereux and become a member of his well-heeled family, offering salvation to her own. But Celine is missing. Pippa has no idea where her best friend has gone, but she's certain it's in the company of vampire Sébastien Saint Germain and that Arjun can lead her to them. Pippa enjoins the help of Eloise, the daughter of a powerful sorceress, to discover the gateway Arjun uses to travel between worlds. Pippa, tired of hesitating in life, marches right through in search of her friend. But what she discovers on the other side is a dangerous, duplicitous world full of mischief and magic she doesn't understand, and most unexpectedly, she finds love.

In this latest installment of The New York Times bestselling series that began with The Beautiful, Pippa journeys to the treacherous and beguiling world of the fey in search of answers only to fall in love.

From Goodreads:
The stunning conclusion to the instant New York Times bestselling quartet that began with The Beautiful.

The Sylvan Vale and the Sylvan Wyld are at war. Now that the unsteady truce between them has been broken, lines must be drawn. In an effort to protect the weakened Winter Court, Bastien rallies powerful allies and friends in New Orleans to come to their aid.

Meanwhile, under protection alongside her injured mother in the Summer Court, Celine is uncertain of whom to trust. She cannot get word to Bastien, and does not understand why he has not returned. When she realizes war between the fey courts is imminent, she journeys with Ali in an effort to find the time traveling mirror and change their fate.

But when Celine's rivals realize Bastien has rallied his allies in the mortal world, they decide to take the fight to him.

My Review:
Oh, these were such great reads! I really enjoyed the first two, and I'm glad that I read all these books close together, it kept the story details fresh in my mind, and I got to see what happened next to these characters pretty quickly!

The Righteous was really interesting, in that it focused on Pippa and Arjun, which was great, we got to know them better, as well as explore the Fae world, which was really interesting. And it was great set up for the final book! Plus they had a really wonderful romance!

The Ruined was such a fantastic read. I was a bit worried, because it seemed to be setting up for this big kind of end battle, with allies and rivals and such from the synopsis. So much happened, so much was revealed and dealt with, yeah, loved reading that!

The ending though, that I'm not sure about. I mean, I agree with other reviewers, it did feel rushed, and there wasn't many pages to deal with what had all gone down. And we didn't leave all of them in the best of places, which has me wondering if the future will bring more...

These were such fantastic reads, and a great end to the series and I can't wait to read more by Renée Ahdieh!
