Week 15 Review: An Absolutely Remarkable Thing

From Goodreads:
Roaming through New York City at three a.m., twenty-three-year-old April May stumbles across a giant sculpture. Delighted by its appearance and craftsmanship—like a ten-foot-tall Transformer wearing a suit of samurai armor—April and her friend, Andy, make a video with it, which Andy uploads to YouTube. The next day, April wakes up to a viral video and a new life. News quickly spreads that there are Carls in dozens of cities around the world—from Beijing to Buenos Aires—and April, as their first documentarian, finds herself at the center of an intense international media spotlight.

Seizing the opportunity to make her mark on the world, April now has to deal with the consequences her new particular brand of fame has on her relationships, her safety, and her own identity. And all eyes are on April to figure out not just what the Carls are, but what they want from us.

My Review:
Man, this was such a clever and well-done story! The was the story and the plot, where were really fantastic, and then there was the social commentary, Hank Green has been a pretty important part of the internet, with his brother, and I think he has an interesting perspective on humanity because of that, and some some insights that were really interesting.

The idea of something like this happening, of these strange sculptures appearing around the globe, was so interesting. That April becomes the head of the group that has positive feelings makes sent. And that there's a group that has negative feelings about them, also makes sense. That there's clashes between the groups, again, yeah, it's just human nature.

I really enjoyed the various puzzles and mysteries that they were presented with, and how people had to work together to figure out the solution, it was really clever. Add in all the personal drama, because April has a hard time with relationships, even if the feelings were there, just loved it!

That ending though? Yeah, I'm really excited to see how that's going to play out. After where we left things, with the questions raised about humanity and about what happened to April...I need to know, and I'm glad that I picked up this book when I can pick up book 2 whenever I can find time to pick it up.

Loved reading this book, and I need to read book 2 now!
