The Question of the week is: Do you set a monthly budget for books? If yes, what amount? Have you ever exceeded your limit? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)
Nope. What I usually do is start adding books to a cart, and when a sale comes or an offer, I make sure I've added every book that I want to get, and then I place the order. There are some one offs, like going to thrift stores in person, which happen very irregularly (I've been planning on that keeps on being pushed back, which is very annoying.) Books are my number one hobby, and get the most money after essentials.
Plus I'm fortunate to get ARC's, so I can read a bunch of books, and decide if I want to buy them, so most of the books that I've bought, I've read and loved, and there's not as many that I'm picking up having not read before.
But if I set a budget, I think it would balance out, for the times where I don't buy any, and then the times where I buy a whole ton load. Notwithstanding birthday purchases, because some of that money is gifts, and also, I"m treating myself, and a lot of the stores that I buy from have birthday incentives, so it's an excuse to splurge. Like I learned that Chapters has a max of 40 items per order, but that was an offer that I got at the start of the month, vs. the book outlet coupon only came on my birthday, and is expiring soon, so I'm placing that order shortly, I just have a few decisions to make before I place it.
