Week 8 Review: Dreamless

From Goodreads:
Can true love be forgotten?

As the only scion who can descend into the Underworld, Helen Hamilton has been given a nearly impossible task. By night she wanders through Hades, trying to stop the endless cycle of revenge that has cursed her family. By day she struggles to overcome the fatigue that is rapidly eroding her sanity. Without Lucas by her side, Helen is not sure she has the strength to go on.

Just as Helen is pushed to her breaking point, a mysterious new Scion comes to her rescue. Funny and brave, Orion shields her from the dangers of the Underworld. But time is running out. A ruthless foe plots against them, and the Furies' cry for blood is growing louder.

As the ancient Greek world collides with the mortal one, Helen's sheltered life on Nantucket descends into chaos. But the hardest task of all will be forgetting Lucas Delos.

Josephine Angelini's compelling saga becomes ever more intricate and spellbinding as an unforgettable love triangle emerges and the eternal cycle of revenge intensifies. Eagerly awaited, this sequel to the internationally bestselling Starcrossed delivers a gritty, action-packed love story that exceeds all expectations.

My first review of Dreamless
My Review:
Oh, loved rereading this book, getting to see the characters again, getting to angst over the fact that Helen and Lucas can't be together, because that they're cousins, yet we know that they're not, because he died 2 years before Helen was born, so he couldn't possibly be her father. Yeah.

And then there was Orion, new, and who's had a hard life, and is head of one house, and heir to the other, with a mom who killed her brother to protect her son-and they look alike. And then his dad, well, yeah, they have issues with each other. So Orion's had it pretty tough, and Daphne was pretty much the only one who could help him. But it's Daphne so we know not to trust her. But for Orion, that's about all he has, so it sucks for him.

We learn a lot, a lot happens, like Helen and Orion try water from the river that brings happiness, but then that wears off, and it turns out the one that they needed was the river of forgetting, and that works, and then suddenly, the furies aren't trying to avenge deaths and then avenge the deaths caused by the avenging, a hateful cycle.

And that Helen doesn't ask Cassandra as the Oracle about whether or not she should free the furies, because yeah, that's why the ending happened, and how her, Lucas, and Orion become blood brothers, well, bringing the 4 houses into 1, and that should bring them closer to raising Atlantis, but not really.

Yeah, I loved this book, and I can't wait to reread Goddess, because it's so freaking good, just like this one!!!
