Week 17 Reviews: Life Before Legend, Legend

From Goodreads:
Find out more about June and Day in this never-before-seen glimpse into their daily lives before they met in Marie Lu's popular LEGEND series. As twelve-year-olds struggling to survive in two very different worlds within the Republic's stronghold, June was starting her first day of school at Drake University as the youngest cadet ever admitted, and Day was fighting for food on the streets of the Lake sector. LIFE BEFORE LEGEND contains two original stories written by Marie Lu that give readers a sneak peek into the lives of their favorite characters in a thrilling new context.

From Goodreads:
What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic's wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic's highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country's most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.

From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths - until the day June's brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family's survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias' death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.

Full of nonstop action, suspense, and romance, this novel is sure to move readers as much as it thrills.

My first review of Legend
My Review:
I loved this books. They were wonderful, a great introduction to this world, this horrible, horrible world, where the government is in control, and there's a pretend-ish democratic government, and it does horrible things to fight a war that it's losing, but tells it's people that it could basically win any day now.

Life Before Legend was 2 a novella of 2 great stories, one of Day, one of June, of some experiences, Day's of his first kiss, June's of why she's known as a trouble-maker, and how they were joined (that Day caused the accident, and then June was late because of that) and that was just wonderful to read, their starts, when they started on the path to where they were in Legend, Day a notorious criminal, and June, an advanced solider.

One thing I didn't like, was the gold ink for Day. For Prodigy, and Champion, his POV's are blue and red respectively, and from my quick glimpses, easy to read. But the gold, on cream paper? Not so easy, and I wish another colour had been chosen, something not red or blue, but something that stood out on the page more.

Day and June were awesome, and almost 2 people sharing a soul, their only real noticeable differences the way that they grew up, their circumstances, because they both got 1500 on their tests, and 2 different sides on the same coin.

I loved these books, really enjoyed the, and I can't wait to read more!!!!
