Week 40 Review: The Revenge Playbook

From Goodreads:
Don't get mad, get even! In this poignant and hilarious novel, Rachael Allen brilliantly explores the nuances of high school hierarchies, the traumas sustained on the path to finding true love, and the joy of discovering a friend where you least expect.

In the small town of Ranburne, high school football rules and the players are treated like kings. How they treat the girls they go to school with? That's a completely different story. Liv, Peyton, Melanie Jane, and Ana each have their own reason for wanting to teach the team a lesson—but it's only when circumstances bring them together that they come up with the plan to steal the one thing the boys hold sacred. All they have to do is beat them at their own game.

Brimming with sharp observations and pitch-perfect teen voices, fans of Jenny Han and Sarah Mlynowski are sure to fall head-over-heels for this sharp tale—by the author of 17 First Kisses—about the unexpected roads that can lead you to finding yourself.

My Review:
This book was really fantastic! It does have some hard topics to deal with, because there are some really compelling reasons for the girls to do what they did! I really enjoyed the back and forth, of the girls completing the dares, and then back to what they’ve gone through to get them to that point.

I read this book after What We Saw. And they both deal with similar topics, of the football teams getting away with criminal acts, and those that stand up to them. In this book, it was something that was slowly discovered, and that worked really well!
We knew that something was wrong, but we didn't know what, exactly. And then there was talk about this party. And then we got Melanie Jane's memory of it. And then we got Ana's. Just proves the thing that there's 3 sides to a story, one for both people involved, and the truth. Yeah.

That this football team would make their incoming guys break up with the girls that they considered unsuitable, that they had a list of those girls and the comments that they made…horrible! And that ending, I wish that it’d been a bit bigger, like the characters did, with more consequences for those that deserved them, but it was really fantastic!

Such a wonderful book, so enjoyable, and I just absolutely loved it!
