Week 21 Review: Indelible

From Goodreads:
When medical examiner Sara Linton and police chief Jeffrey Tolliver take a trip away from the small town of Heartsdale, it should be a straightforward weekend at the beach. But they decide to take a detour via Jeffrey's hometown and things go violently wrong when Jeffrey's best friend Robert shoots dead an intruder who breaks into his home. Jeffrey and Sara are first on the scene and Jeffrey's keen to clear his friend's name, but for Sara things aren't so simple. And when Jeffrey appears to change the crime scene, Sara no longer knows who to trust.

Twelve years later, Sara and Jeffrey are caught up in a shockingly brutal attack which threatens to destroy both their lives. But they're not random victims. They've been targeted. And it seems the past is catching up with both of them ...

My Review:
I loved reading this book again! It was just so great, though it was a bit hard to read. Because I'm getting close to the end of this Grant County series, and onto the Will Trent one, and knowing what's going to happen...yeah. Adding to the fact, that this book is about the past coming to rear its head in the present, yeah.

It was really great to read about Sara and Jeffrey before they divorced. Reading about a time when they were happy together, and then having this case to deal with, which did strain things. But this is Sara and Jeffrey, who we've been getting to know over the past 3 books. So yeah, that was fantastic!

We went back to Jeffery's home town previously, but that happened after all this stuff happened. Well, not the shoot out, but the case. Which just proves Karin Slaughter's excellent writing and the complex twists and turns and mysteries!

Something that's been something of a pattern in this series, is that things don't end too well. The first one, Lena had been raped and pretty much been broken. Not fully, but almost. And the bad guys were either killed, or not caught. But that's more indicative of real life. And this book had this sense of sadness, of what was the whole point, when the bad guys were wrong?

Loved reading this book, so much, and I can't wait to read more even as I'm kinda dreading it!
