Week 34 Reviews: Descendant, Transcendent

From Goodreads:
The last thing Mason Starling remembers is the train crossing a bridge. An explosion ... a blinding light ... then darkness. Now she is alone, stranded in Asgard - the realm of Norse legend - and the only way for her to get home is to find the Spear of Odin, a powerful relic left behind by vanished gods.

The Fennrys Wolf knows all about Asgard. He was once trapped there. And he'll do whatever it takes to find the girl who's stolen his heart and bring her back - even if it means a treacherous descent into the Underworld. But time is running out, and Fenn knows something Mason doesn't: if she takes up the Spear, she'll set in motion a terrible prophecy. And she won't just return to her world ... she'll destroy it.

In this pulse-pounding sequel to Starling, Lesley Livingston delivers another electrifying blend of nonstop action and undeniable romance that will leave readers breathless.

From Goodreads:
On a terrace high above the streets of Manhattan, Mason Starling kneels beside her beloved Fennrys Wolf, who lies in a pool of blood, his life hanging in the balance. Even if he lives, their future is far from certain as chaos swirls around them. Has this unstoppable heroine-smart, savvy, deadly with a blade-reached the limits of what her sword can vanquish and her soul can survive?

Perfect for fans of Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series, and set in the same universe as Lesley Livingston's much-loved Wondrous Strange trilogy, with roots in Greek, Roman, Norse, Egyptian, and Celtic myths and legends, this thrilling conclusion to the acclaimed Starling trilogy is filled to the hilt with sweeping adventure and soaring romance.

My Review:
It was really fantastic to be able to read the rest of this series so soon after the first book, and the Wondrous Strange series! Details were sharp in my mind, and yeah, I really am glad that things worked out this way! So awesome!

Descendant picks up pretty quickly for these guys, Mason in Hel, and Fennrys and Rafe getting off the bridge and stuff! And the pace is pretty quick for the rest of the series, I think only a couple of days really pass in Descendant, and Transcendent takes place in I think maybe two days. Yeah. That was great!

We learned so many things in this book. Like that it's the gods that we usually think of the good guys, like Odin (or at least his power in Mason's dad) are the ones that want the apocalypse. Which was a neat twist! Or how Mason died, because oh, that hurt!

Loved how everything worked out, they defeated the schemes of the bad guys with cunning and skill. Loved just how they came close to losing, but came back stronger, and won! Such a great ending! I just kinda wish that Kelley and Sonny could've made a brief appearance, that would've just topped this series up to the top!

Loved reading these books, and I can't wait to read more by Lesley Livingston!
