Week 24 Review: Sanctuary

From Goodreads:
Kenzie holds one truth above all: the company is everything.

As a citizen of Omnistellar Concepts, the most powerful corporation in the solar system, Kenzie has trained her entire life for one goal: to become an elite guard on Sanctuary, Omnistellar's space prison for superpowered teens too dangerous for Earth. As a junior guard, she's excited to prove herself to her company—and that means sacrificing anything that won't propel her forward.

But then a routine drill goes sideways and Kenzie is taken hostage by rioting prisoners.

At first, she's confident her commanding officer—who also happens to be her mother—will stop at nothing to secure her freedom. Yet it soon becomes clear that her mother is more concerned with sticking to Omnistellar protocol than she is with getting Kenzie out safely.

As Kenzie forms her own plan to escape, she doesn't realize there's a more sinister threat looming, something ancient and evil that has clawed its way into Sanctuary from the vacuum of space. And Kenzie might have to team up with her captors to survive—all while beginning to suspect there's a darker side to the Omnistellar she knows.

My Review:
Reading this book was so great! There were elements of action, of horror, of mystery, and there was some romance, and it all came together really beautifully, and was so enjoyable to read! I enjoyed reading about this awesome cast of characters, as well and I can't wait to get to know them more!

Kenzie has the biggest journey in this book. She goes from being a Omnistellar guard, to a captive, and learns more about her company and about herself that she wasn't expecting. The others just wanted to break out, and then survive.

The way this world works, with the companies, and then there were government cities, and then there were the free for all spaces, yeah, I'm uneasy with all of them. Not any good options, you know? And adding in the probe 50 years back that gave people powers, yeah, it's an interesting future, to say the least!

The aliens and their plot and how they work, yeah, it's interesting and horrifying. I mean, they procreate by infecting other planets with probes, and once it's had time to work its way into the population, comes and turns those people into whatever they are. Yeah. Not cool!

This book was so fantastic, and I can't wait to see where it's going to go next!
