Week 49 Review: Cytonic

From Goodreads:
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Reckoners series, the Mistborn trilogy, and the Stormlight Archive comes the third book in an epic series about a girl who will travel beyond the stars to save the world she loves from destruction.

Spensa's life as a Defiant Defense Force pilot has been far from ordinary. She proved herself one of the best starfighters in the human enclave of Detritus and she saved her people from extermination at the hands of the Krell—the enigmatic alien species that has been holding them captive for decades. What's more, she traveled light-years from home as an undercover spy to infiltrate the Superiority, where she learned of the galaxy beyond her small, desolate planet home.

Now, the Superiority—the governing galactic alliance bent on dominating all human life—has started a galaxy-wide war. And Spensa's seen the weapons they plan to use to end it: the Delvers. Ancient, mysterious alien forces that can wipe out entire planetary systems in an instant. Spensa knows that no matter how many pilots the DDF has, there is no defeating this predator.

Except that Spensa is Cytonic. She faced down a Delver and saw something eerily familiar about it. And maybe, if she's able to figure out what she is, she could be more than just another pilot in this unfolding war. She could save the galaxy.

The only way she can discover what she really is, though, is to leave behind all she knows and enter the Nowhere. A place from which few ever return.

To have courage means facing fear. And this mission is terrifying.

My Review:
Wow, I utterly loved reading this book! For the 3rd time, we're in a completely new setting, and almost brand new cast of characters, and I loved all the new things that we learned-Defiant is going to be so great! I can't wait to see how everything goes down!

I had a wild theory about who Chet was. I thought that maybe it was her dad, somehow he got to Nowhere. Alas, I was wrong, but who he turned out to be, that was a pretty epic part of the story! Loved what that added to the world!

This book was slower then the first two, but it really gave us time to get get to know Spensa, even as she was forgetting bits and pieces. This world of Nowhere was so interesting, between the memory loss, the different floating islands, the pirates and the memories left behind by previous cytonics. Spensa learns so much about her history, how cytonics came about-and how the delvers did, as well, which is going to be very useful in taking them down!

This book ties into the short story, Defending Elysium, that Brandon Sanderson wrote years ago, and that this series has been connected to, I think since the beginning, but this is the first book where it's directly referenced, because Jason Write has a small but pivotal part of this story!

Loved reading this book, and I'm so pumped for the 4th and final book, Defiant! I can't wait to see how things will go down (as well in Evershore and getting Jorgen's perspective and story!)
