Week 16 Review: Blood Heir

From Goodreads:
In the Cyrilian Empire, Affinites are reviled. Their varied gifts to control the world around them are deemed unnatural--even dangerous. And Anastacya Mikhailov, the crown princess, is one of the most terrifying Affinites.

Ana's ability to control blood has long been kept secret, but when her father, the emperor, is murdered, she is the only suspect. Now, to save her own life, Ana must find her father's killer. But the Cyrilia beyond the palace walls is one where corruption rules and a greater conspiracy is at work--one that threatens the very balance of Ana's world.

There is only one person corrupt enough to help Ana get to the conspiracy's core: Ramson Quicktongue. Ramson is a cunning crime lord with sinister plans--though he might have met his match in Ana. Because in this story, the princess might be the most dangerous player of all.

My Review:
I utterly devoured this book! This world with the various powers that Affinities have, and the way that they're treated, yeah, it had my blood boiling, and I just had to know what was going to happen next! Add in Ramson, who was a pretty untrustworthy character, I just couldn't put this book down!

Ana is the member of the royal family. But because of her Affinity, and the accidents she had when she was first getting used to it, they basically hid her away. And when her father was killed and she was main suspect, well, she had to do something to set the record straight.

The main focus was on Ana and the Cyrilian empire, and how it treated those who had Affinities. Which is pretty poor, and was tied into the mystery of who actually killed her father. We also got some of Ramson's story, and it's been tough. Since it sounds like we're going to his home country in the following books, I can't wait to read more!

That ending was so utterly evil! There would be a moment of hope, and things would get worse, and the final time that happened, that hurt! I know this is the start of a trilogy, and besides the connections that they've made throughout this book, they are in a much worse place! Can't wait to read to find out how they're going to get out!

Absolutely loved reading this book and I can't wait to continue on!
