Week 16 Review: A Touch of Darkness

From Goodreads:
From bestselling author Scarlett St. Clair comes a dark and enthralling reimagining of the Hades and Persephone Greek myth.

"Let me worship you," he said.
She remembered the words she had whispered to him in the back of the limo after La Rose. "You will worship me, and I won't even have to order you." His request felt sinful and devious, and she reveled in it.
She answered, "Yes."

Persephone is the Goddess of Spring in title only. Since she was a little girl, flowers have only shriveled at her touch. After moving to New Athens, she hoped to lead an unassuming life disguised as a mortal journalist. All of that changes when she sits down in a forbidden nightclub to play a hand of cards with a hypnotic and mysterious stranger.

Hades, God of the Dead, has built a gambling empire in the mortal world and his favorite bets are rumored to be impossible. But nothing has ever intrigued him as much as the goddess offering him a bargain he can't resist.

After her encounter with Hades, Persephone finds herself in a contract with the God of the Dead, and his terms are impossible: Persephone must create life in the Underworld or lose her freedom forever. The bet does more than expose Persephone's failure as a goddess, however. As she struggles to sow the seeds of her freedom, love for the God of the Dead grows—a love that is both captivating and forbidden.

My Review:
I loved reading this book! I enjoyed her other series, and this one has a lot of hype, so I checked it out, and I enjoyed it so much! I loved this modern retelling of Greek mythology, and the specifics of this world! It was so interesting and entertaining to read!

The concept of this world, with this series with Persephone's perspective, and the Hades Saga for Hades', yeah, I love that, so when the books are done, we'll have the full story! I really enjoyed being in her head, and I can't wait to be in his!

That she is the daughter of Demeter, but has a black thumb rather then a green one is a rough spot for Persephone, plus the fact that she doesn't have any ability that she should have as a Goddess. That she gets into this bargain with Hades, well, it gives her time to spend in his realm and getting to know him, while also disparaging his conduct in regards to his deals. It was so entertaining, and I loved watching their relationship bloom!

One thing that has me really nervous, is that this is just he first book in this series, and a lot happened in it. So how are things going to get worse, the stakes get raised? The events that are going to happen to these two in the future, I'm scared for them!

Loved reading this book, and I can't wait to continue on!
