Week 17 Review: The Prisoner's Throne

From Goodreads:
An imprisoned prince. A vengeful queen. And a battle that will determine the future of Elfhame.

Prince Oak is paying for his betrayal. Imprisoned in the icy north and bound to the will of a monstrous new queen, he must rely on charm and calculation to survive. With High King Cardan and High Queen Jude willing to use any means necessary to retrieve their stolen heir, Oak will have to decide whether to attempt regaining the trust of the girl he's always loved or to remain loyal to Elfhame and hand over the means to end her reign—even if it means ending Wren, too.

With a new war looming on the horizon and treachery lurking in every corner, neither Oak's guile nor his wit will be enough to keep everyone he loves alive. It's just a question of whom he will doom.

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author Holly Black comes the stunning blood-soaked conclusion to the Stolen Heir duology.

My Review:
Oh, this was such a fantastic read! I love this world so much (I've heard that all of Holly Black's F? books all take place in the same world, which would be pretty interesting.) and the way the pervious book ended, I needed to know more!

From the synopsis, I had an idea that we were going to be in Oak's perspective, which it was, which was really great for two reasons-because then both of them had a narration in this duology, and because then we could see his thought processes and reactions after the events of the previous book! Plus it made understanding what she was doing just a bit more difficult then it would've been if we were in her head.

The politics in this world have always on the surface looked pretty simple, but underneath they're a mass of roots interconnecting and complicated and with Oak being the heir, and dealing with Wren, yeah, when you add in personal feelings it gets infinitely more complicated.

Utterly loved how it wrapped up, I loved seeing these characters together and happy, though I do hope we get more time spent in this world, because there's still so much to explore! Plus we got hints of a future story...

Loved reading this book, it was a really fantastic end to the duology!
