Riley Witt is running out of time.
Battling Alzheimer’s disease, Riley’s grandmother Mary suffers from memory loss, mood swings, and a tendency to wander off.
As senior year approaches, Riley has to face the reality that the one person she depends on most is slowly fading. Making matters
worse, when Mary does remember the past, she tells tales of time travel and visions. As Mary’s version of the past gets more confused, Riley knows they are running out of time together.
But when Riley discovers a guitar belonging to a famous rock star at Mary’s house, the truth behind the crazy tales finally comes out.
SIX STRINGS tells the story of Riley’s journey back to 1973 where she enters a world of music, long-lost family, and first love. Her adventure is all about discovering her past, understanding her present, and figuring out how to step into her future.
My Review:
This was a really fun book! I mean, while her grandmother has Alzheimer's but Riley has her friends, especially Nathan, and oh, yeah, she can time travel with a musical instrument with a specific note. This was a book about music, love, and time, and yeah, it had quite a few twists in it!
I really enjoyed Riley, the student that does all the work as soon as she gets it, and works for the best grades, and who also loves music, I can relate to music loving! And then she's had her summer taken over by her grandmother, watching over her, and yeah, there's the thing of time travel that Mary has to explain to Riley before she can't any more.
I really enjoyed the actually time travel, it was very unique, like the fact that it's only every other generation that can actually do it, and the fact that there's a limited amount of times that they can travel-back or forward.
So yeah, there were a few twists in this book, like her mom's, and how that has to do with the guitar that produces the note that Riley needs to open the portal, and yeah, they were all pretty unpredictable, and awesome!
I enjoyed this book, and I'm hoping for a second book, I want more!
