Week 29 Reviews: The Heir, The Crown, The Crown Epilogue

From Goodreads:
Kiera Cass's #1 New York Times bestselling Selection series has enchanted readers from the very first page. In this fourth romantic novel, follow Illea's royal family into a whole new Selection-and find out what happens after happily ever after.

Twenty years ago, America Singer entered the Selection and won Prince Maxon's heart. Now the time has come for Princess Eadlyn to hold a Selection of her own. Eadlyn doesn't expect her Selection to be anything like her parents' fairy-tale love story...but as the competition begins, she may discover that finding her own happily ever after isn't as impossible as she's always thought. A new generation of swoonworthy characters and captivating romance awaits in the fourth book of the Selection series!

When Eadlyn became the first princess of Illéa to hold her own Selection, she didn't think she would fall in love with any of her thirty-five suitors. She spent the first few weeks of the competition counting down the days until she could send them all home. But as events at the palace force Eadlyn even further into the spotlight, she realizes that she might not be content remaining alone.

Eadlyn still isn't sure she'll find the fairytale ending her parents did twenty years ago. But sometimes the heart has a way of surprising you…and soon Eadlyn must make a choice that feels more impossible—and more important—than she ever imagined.
A bonus epilogue to The Crown.

My Review:
I'm so glad that I continued-and finished-this series! I've been meaning to read these two full length books since they came out, but I had to reread the first half of the series, and now that I've done that, I was able to read these two! It feels good to finish it off!

The thing I was most excited to see, was what changes have been made in the years since The One happened, with the removal of the castes, and it was interesting to see that Eadlyn's selection was in response to that, to give the royal family time to deal with the issues. So I can understand why she doesn't want to do it. But it was good for her in the end!

In the beginning, I honestly didn't really like Eadlyn. She was pretty bratty, and dismissed those who told her so. Life hadn't been hard for her, though being the future Queen was tough. But nothing shook her up until the Selection, where she met a wide variety of people, and learns to open up. Her journey was great, and I really enjoyed that!

Because one thing that she didn't get-this wasn't about someone rescuing her, it was about someone to support her. American and Maxon had each other, and that was what she was supposed to be looking for. Well, so did learn that before it was too late!

There was a good mix of politics and romance, with the Selection and all, with Eadlyn being the princess, and then Regent. Watching her get to know these guys, deal with them trying to get to know her, and the lessons that she learned along the way. Some people were more then they seemed, while others were less, and I had a great time watching her deal with them all! And the choice that she made, I really loved who she picked!

These were a lot of fun, and I had a great time reading them!
