An enemies-to-lovers spicy romance set in the world of video gaming from the bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis—available only in audio!
Viola Bowen has the chance of a lifetime: to design a video game based on her all-time favorite book series. The only problem? Her co-lead is Jesse F-ing Andrews, a.k.a. her arch-nemesis. Jesse has made it abundantly clear over the years that he wants nothing to do with her–and Viola has no idea why.
When their bosses insist a wintery retreat is the perfect team-building exercise, Viola can't think of anything worse. Being freezing cold in a remote mountain lodge knowing Jesse is right next door? No, thank you.
But as the snow piles on, Viola discovers there's more to Jesse than she knew, and heat builds in more ways than one.
My Review:
This was such a cute read! I love Ali Hazelwood books, and how often in the relationships, he falls first, and she doesn't know that? It's so much fun to read, and I loved seeing it this working retreat, where two companies have to learn to work with one another. It was so fun to read!
While video games aren't in the science part of STEM, I do think it falls, at least partially, under that umbrella, with the coding and such. Though Jesse was the more game play aspect, and Viola was better at characters and stories. Watching as they all had to come together to learn to work together...loved it!
The fact that she thinks that he hates her, and that she'd developed a crush on him until he rejects her at a pre-wedding party, yeah, that was really fun dynamics to read about. That he does seem like a good guy, that he won't let the teams fight with one another was really great!
I had such a great time to watch as they grew closer, and gained a better understanding of the past and cleared out some misunderstandings, loved it! Them in love was just a delight to read, and their story just flew right on by!
Loved reading this book and I can't wait to read more by Ali Hazelwood!
