Thirty-Five Days After Metias’s Death

June and Day arrive in Vegas just as the unthinkable happens: the Elector Primo dies, and his son Anden takes his place. With the Republic edging closer to chaos, the two join a group of Patriot rebels eager to help Day rescue his brother and offer passage to the Colonies. They have only one request—June and Day must assassinate the new Elector.

It’s their chance to change the nation, to give voice to a people silenced for too long.

But as June realizes this Elector is nothing like his father, she’s haunted by the choice ahead. What if Anden is a new beginning? What if revolution must be more than loss and vengence, anger and blood—what if the Patriots are wrong?

Precious Bones: Review

From Goodreads:
When the skeletal remains of a young woman and her baby are found entombed behind the kitchen wall of a historic Tudor house, Cassandra is overcome with grief. She seems to know who the young woman was, but not how she knows or how she came to be there.

Cassandra becomes inexplicably drawn to the house and the mystery of the "Bones of Blackfriars." As she begins to learn the truth about the Thorne siblings who occupied the house during the reign of Elizabeth I, her own life takes an unexpected turn and she finds that her fate is linked to the Thornes in ways she never imagined.

My Review:
This was a really awesome book! I loved the history in it, and the characters, and the circumstances that the characters were in, because yeah, it was really great to read this book! Really, I enjoyed this book a ton!

How Cassandra is connected to the mom and the baby, and what she experiences because that was half the book. The other half was the connection and the romance between her and the modern day Thorne! So great!

So in the past parts of the book, those injustices that were in society at the time, that the characters faced, just made my blood boil! I really don't like injustice, I want to make things right and fair, but I can't, because it already happened before I was born.

I cared about what happened in this book. That was why it could get those reactions for me. And yeah, not fun to have that negative emotion, but oh, well! There were positives, so they balanced themselves out pretty nicely!

I enjoyed this book a lot, it was well written and great!

A journey may take hundreds of miles, or it may cover the distance between duty and desire.

Sixteen of today’s hottest writers of paranormal tales weave stories on a common theme of journeying. Authors such as Kelley Armstrong, Rachel Caine, and Melissa Marr return to the beloved worlds of their bestselling series, while others, like Claudia Gray, Kami Garcia, and Margaret Stohl, create new land-scapes and characters. But whether they’re writing about vampires, faeries, angels, or other magical beings, each author explores the strength and resilience of the human heart.

Suspenseful, funny, or romantic, the stories in Enthralled will leave you moved.
On the rugged terrain of the American southwest, join the larger-than-life, scorching-hot alpha heroes of the Bureau of American Defense for the pulse-pounding, heart-racing, toe-curling excitement. They’re cool under pressure, steamy under the sheets, and when the enemy strikes, there’s not a lethal mission these gorgeous men can’t handle...
Kami Glass loves someone she’s never met . . . a boy she’s talked to in her head ever since she was born. She wasn’t silent about her imaginary friend during her childhood, and is thus a bit of an outsider in her sleepy English town of Sorry-in-the-Vale. Still, Kami hasn’t suffered too much from not fitting in. She has a best friend, runs the school newspaper, and is only occasionally caught talking to herself. Her life is in order, just the way she likes it, despite the voice in her head.

But all that changes when the Lynburns return.

The Lynburn family has owned the spectacular and sinister manor that overlooks Sorry-in-the-Vale for centuries. The mysterious twin sisters who abandoned their ancestral home a generation ago are back, along with their teenage sons, Jared and Ash, one of whom is eerily familiar to Kami. Kami is not one to shy away from the unknown—in fact, she’s determined to find answers for all the questions Sorry-in-the-Vale is suddenly posing. Who is responsible for the bloody deeds in the depths of the woods? What is her own mother hiding? And now that her imaginary friend has become a real boy, does she still love him? Does she hate him? Can she trust him?
Dorina Basarab is a dhampir-half-human, half-vampire. Back home in Brooklyn after the demise of her insane Uncle Dracula, Dory's hoping her life is about to calm down. But soon Dory realizes someone is killing vampire Senate members, and if she can't stop the murderer, her friends may be next...
Gwen Williams has been hiding a strange and fantastic secret: she's a shapeshifter. Although society may tolerate vampires, centaurs, and "Others" like Gwen, there are plenty of folks in her small Washington town who don't care for her kind.

When a new werewolf pack moves into the area, tensions rise—and Others start showing up dead, including someone close to Gwen. Despite the methodical murders, the police are ignoring evidence that suggests a serial killer. In the midst of terrible loss and danger, Gwen—along with a mysterious and sexy guy who happens to be a Japanese fox spirit—risks her life to find the murderer. But Gwen is already the killer's next target . . .
Betrayed by her longtime vampire love, Louisiana cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse must now not only deal with a possible new man in her life--the oh-so-handsome shapeshifter Quinn--but also contend with a long-planned vampire summit. With her power base weakened by hurricane damage to New Orleans, the local vampire queen is vulnerable to those hungry for a takeover. Soon, Sookie must decide what side she'll stand with. And her choice may mean the difference between survival and all-out catastrophe.

When he and Elizabeth discover a portal into the spirit world, they cannot resist. Together with Victor’s twin, Konrad, and their friend Henry, the four venture into a place of infinite possibilities where power and passion reign. But as they search for the knowledge to raise the dead, they unknowingly unlock a darkness from which they may never return.

At first, Kate is delighted to be a better girlfriend to Isaac this time around. Two-hundred-and-sixty years later, they have been released at last. Given new, perfect bodies, Locke and Kara awaken to a world they know nothing about, where everyone they once knew and loved is long dead.

Everyone except Jenna Fox.
Mia is torn between two guys—and two worlds—in this epic, romantic fantasy.

Then Mia’s brother goes missing, and Mia’s convinced that Sol knows more than he’s sharing. But getting closer to Sol means reevaluating everything Mia once believed to be true. Because Sol’s not who Mia thought he was—and neither is she.
When Alex falls for the charming new boy at school, Cole -- a handsome, funny, sports star who adores her -- she can't believe she's finally found her soul mate . . . someone who truly loves and understands her.

At first, Alex is blissfully happy. Sure, Cole seems a little jealous of her relationship with her close friend Zack, but what guy would want his girlfriend spending all her time with another boy? As Alex struggles to come to terms with the sweet boyfriend she fell in love with and the boyfriend whose "love" she no longer recognizes, she is forced to choose -- between her "true love" and herself.
Seventeen-year-old Alyssa thought she knew who she was. She had her family and her best friends and, most important, she had Sarah. Alyssa never thought she would have to make that move by herself, but disowned by her father and cut off from everyone she loves, she is forced to move hundreds of miles away to live with Carly, the biological mother she barely knows, in a town where everyone immediately dismisses her as "Carly's girl." As Alyssa struggles to forget her past and come to terms with her future, will she be able to build a new life for herself and believe in love again? Or will she be forced to relive the mistakes that have cost her everything and everyone she cared about?
All Chelsea wants to do this summer is hang out with her best friend, hone her talents as an ice cream connoisseur, and finally get over Ezra, the boy who broke her heart. But when Chelsea shows up for her summer job at Essex Historical Colonial Village (yes, really), it turns out Ezra’s working there too. Which makes moving on and forgetting Ezra a lot more complicated…even when Chelsea starts falling for someone new.

Maybe Chelsea should have known better than to think that a historical reenactment village could help her escape her past. But with Ezra all too present, and her new crush seeming all too off limits, all Chelsea knows is that she’s got a lot to figure out about love. Because those who don’t learn from the past are doomed to repeat it…
Sixteen-year-old Catherine Vernon has been stranded in London for the summer-no friends, no ex-boyfriend Adam the Scum (good riddance!), and absolutely nothing to do but blog about her misery to her friends back home. Desperate for something-anything-to do in London while her (s)mother's off researching boring historical things, Cat starts reading the 1815 diary of Katherine Percival her mom gives her-and finds the similarities between their lives to be oddly close. But where Katherine has the whirls of the society, the parties and the gossip over who is engaged to who, Cat's only got some really excellent English chocolate. Then she meets William Percival-the uber-hot descendant of Katherine-and things start looking up . . .
Your heart misleads you. That's what my friends and family say.

But I love Noah. And he loves me.

We met and fell in love in the sleepy farming community of Meadowview, while we rode our horses together through the grassy fields and in those moments in each other's arms.

It should be ROSE & NOAH forever, easy.

But it won't be.

Because he's Amish. And I'm not.

Week 43 Review: Midnight's Daughter

From Goodreads:
Dorina Basarab is a dhampir-half human, half vampire. Subject to uncontrollable rages, most dhampirs live very short, very violent lives. So far Dory has managed to maintain her sanity by unleashing her anger on those demons and vampires who deserve killing.

Now Dory's vampire father has come back into her life. Her Uncle Dracula (yes, the Dracula), infamous even among vampires for his cruelty and murderous ways, has escaped his prison. And her father wants Dory to work with gorgeous master vampire Louis-Cesare to put him back there.

Vampires and dhampirs are mortal enemies, and Dory prefers to work alone. But Dracula is the only thing on Earth that truly scares her, so when Dory has to go up against him, she'll take all the help she can get… ...

My Review:
This was such a fantastic book! It was pretty much luck that I read it, someone that had commented on my WoW post, when I went to comment back, had Fury's Kiss, the 3rd book in this series, as their featured book, and it sounded great, so I had to start from the beginning of the series! So I'm so glad that that whole interaction happened!

One thing that was so great about this book, was a combination of things-the humour, the action, the characters, the world-building, and how much was going on. I mean, all these by themselves are really great in books. But when combined, they were just so amazing to read!

I loved reading about Dory and Louis-Cesare! They had such a compelling dynamic, because they're being forced to work together by her dad, and vampires tend to not want to spend time around dhampires. But there's a spark between them, and I just loved watching it flourish!

I think, my favourite character beyond Dory and Louis-Cesare, was Dory's uncle Radu, because he was eccentric, which he can't be blamed for. He does has his flaws, but he was really interesting to read about! I felt sorry for him, what with the various partial destructions around and in his house after the final battles!

This was such a fantastic book, and now I have to read Death's Mistress!

Week 43 Review: 2 Bodies for the Price of 1

From Goodreads:
With fugitive parents, a brother dodging loan sharks, a hunky cop who's made her outlaw family his business, and her ex-fiance back in the picture, Carlotta Wren thought her life couldn't get any more complicated. And then... Her fugitive parents phone home.

Her identity is stolen by a look-alike.

Her look-alike is found, well...dead.

Under suspicion for murder, Carlotta discovers that her devious double might have been bumped off accidentally--and that she could be the real target. Throw in dealing with her motley crew of family, friends and wannabe lovers, and Carlotta begins to think that jail isn't such a bad alternative after all...

My Review:
And the adventure continues! Carlotta, her brother, and her potential boyfriends, and the murder mystery, yeah, everything was just so captivating, and it was one heck of a roller coaster ride! I can't wait to get to the next book!

First there was the identity theft, and all the problems that caused. And then the death of the lady that assumed Carlotta's identity. Oh, and then there was what her brother was getting up to, which is going to cause a lot of trouble!

I think that it all came together very well! All the bits and clues, and the off hand comments, to find who the bad guy was! And when a mystery book does it well, it comes with a "I couldn't have figured this out!" kind of feeling, and this book had it!

Who the bad guy is, who stole the identities, and then sold them to other people, and killed his customers, well, it sucks who it is. Because he was her friend, and yet he did this to her. And that whole situation sucks so much!

I loved reading this book again, it's just so fantastic, and I can't wait to keep going on with the series!

Week 43 Review: Scent of Magic

From Goodreads:
Hunted, Killed—Survived?

As the last Healer in the Fifteen Realms, Avry of Kazan is in a unique position: in the minds of her friends and foes alike, she no longer exists. Despite her need to prevent the megalomanical King Tohon from winning control of the Realms, Avry is also determined to find her sister and repair their estrangement. And she must do it alone, as Kerrick, her partner and sole confident, returns to Alga to summon his country into battle.

Though she should be in hiding, Avry will do whatever she can to support Tohon's opponents. Including infiltrating a holy army, evading magic sniffers, teaching forest skills to soldiers and figuring out how to stop Tohon's most horrible creations yet; an army of the walking dead—human and animal alike and nearly impossible to defeat.

War is coming and Avry is alone. Unless she figures out how to do the impossible ... again.

My Review:
I loved this book so much! And I'm so lucky that I got this book from NetGalley, because if I hadn't, then I would've had an extra wait for it, because I got Touch of Power from NetGalley! So yeah, that's a great thing! And I'm officially making all Maria V. Snyder books linked to Haven't Had Enough by Marianas Trench!

I loved being with these characters again! I really enjoyed them in Touch, but I read Touch so fast, and then it was over, so then having this, it was just so good! And things happen! Which of course, is expected, seeing as it's a book and all! And as a bonus, we get the POV of both Avry and Kerrick!

I was so excited to read this book. And it delivered back an excellent, amazing book for every moment of waiting for it! There were so many revelations in this book, of what was going on, which just means more is going to happen in the next book! And there was pain, but it was kinda the pain that needs to happen, you know? For more things to happen because of it, and if there was any other way, there wouldn't be pain?

Such a good ending! Such a cliffhanger! And it was just exactly what we needed, but there's a catch. We don't know if a very beloved character is alive or not! And that, that worry is going to be taken to the extreme, I just know it!

Such an amazing, incredible, Maria V. Sndyer, book! Loved it to bits! I want Taste of Death now! (Edited to add, Taste of Darkness, now!)

Week 43 Review: Bad Hair Day

From Goodreads:
Senior year is positively hair-raising.

Kate Grable is geeked out to shadow the county medical examiner as part of her school's pre-med program. Except when he's arrested for murder, she's left with the bodies. And when Kate's brother Jonah stumbles upon a dead gamer girl, she realizes that the zombie epidemic she cured last fall was only the beginning of the weirdness taking over her town. Someone's murdering kids—something really hairy. And strong. Possibly with claws.

Is it werewolf awesomeness like Jonah and his dorktastic friends think? Kate's supposed to be a butt-kicking zombie killing genius...but if she can't figure out who's behind the freakish attacks, the victims—or what's left of them—are going to keep piling up.

It's scary. It's twisted. It's sick. It's high school.

My Review
:
Man, I'm so glad that this is a series. Because it was so awesome to be in this world again, with these characters, watching Kate tackle another possible paranormal creature! And it was just so funny! The last line of the synopsis should prove that-it makes me laugh every time!

So Kate's gotten a bit of fame after the events of the last book. Which lead her to an intern-ship thing. Except that her boss is arrested, and there's bodies, and so Kate's up to the task, but she's wondering if she's capable. Of course we know she is!

I really, really enjoyed the mix of the science and the monsters again, it's just something that I don't think will really truly get old. After all, monster stories have been around for centuries, and science, well, adds a new and modern take on it!

I would really love a 3rd book. And more monsters! I read the 1.5 novel, Bad Yeti, which gave Jonah a leading role, but it would be really so fantastic to have a 3rd book, more monsters, and more things for Kate to solve! that would be so great, but I don't have my hopes up!

I enjoyed this book, so, so, much! So lucky to be able to read it early! Can't wait to read more by Carrie Harris!

Week 43 Review: Definitely Dead

From Goodreads:
As a person with so few living relatives, Louisiana cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse really hated to lose one. But she never guessed that it would be her cousin Hadley—a consort of the Vampire Queen of New Orleans. After all, technically speaking, Hadley was already dead. And now, as unexpected heir to Hadley's estate, Sookie discovers the inheritance definitely comes with a risk. Someone doesn't want Sookie looking too deeply into Hadley's past—or for that matter, Hadley's possessions. And they're prepared to do anything in their power to stop her. But who? The range of suspects runs from the Rogue Weres who reject Sookie as a friend of the Pack to the Vampire Queen herself, who could be working through a particularly vulnerable subject—Sookie's first love, Bill.

Whoever it is, they're definitely dangerous—and Sookie's life is definitely on the line…

My Review:
Ah, this book was pretty darned entertaining! I'm so glad that I have a physical copy, that I own, because hey, this is a pretty good series, and I like owning books that I enjoy! So yeah, that fact made reading this book even better!

So Quinn's in this book, and he has a pretty big role, because yeah, there's feelings there between him and Sookie, and I enjoyed reading about that! Especially since Bill is a possible guy that could kill the both of them!

I really enjoyed the twists and turns! Sookie and Quinn have lots of attempts on their lives, left and right, basically, from vampires and were's, so yeah, that's a lot of action. And it's the big transition for Sookie, I felt, from the person she was in the first book, to one that has fully embraced the supernatural world!

So the big twist at the end, that Hadley had a daughter, well, yeah, that was pretty great, and that Sookie's going to help the dad take care of the girl, well, yeah, that was really touching! I enjoyed that fact a lot!

Such a great book, really entertaining, now to read book 7!
