Follow Friday #194, July 31st

Follow Friday is a blog hop that expands your blog following by a joint effort between bloggers. Follow Friday is hosted by 2 hosts, Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs! For more rules and how to participate, visit one of the hosts. Now for this week's question:

Q: If you could get an ARC of any book, already published, or not yet, what would it be?

A: Oh, huh, I asked this question! Why did I have to be so hard on myself! Uh, all of my favourite books, Acheron and Styxx  by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Heart of the Dragon by Gena Showalter, Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder, the Legacy series by Cayla Kluver, and all these YA books! They're all so freaking good! What about you guys? Happy reading!

The Reward Challenge Update #202, July 31st

The Reward Challenge is almost the complete opposite to a book buying ban as you'll end up buying lots of new books throughout the challenge but only after you've completed a certain amount of reading. It was hosted by Good Golly Miss Holly, so thanks to her for starting it!

OK, so I read Every Choice which counts 3 times as a Tour Review book and a Prequel & Sequel Challenge 2015 Book, Vampire Fight Club which counts 3 times as a 2015 Dystopia Book and Prequel & Sequel Challenge 2015 Book, Immortal Rider which counts 3 times as a 2015 Dystopia Book and Prequel & Sequel Challenge 2015 Book, Apocalypse which counts 3 times as a 2015 Dystopia Book and Prequel & Sequel Challenge 2015 Book, Lethal Rider which counts 3 times as a 2015 Dystopia Book and Prequel & Sequel Challenge 2015 Book, Rogue Rider which counts 3 times as a 2015 Dystopia Book and Prequel & Sequel Challenge 2015 Book, No Kissing Allowed which counts 4 times as a NetGalley Book, Review Tour Book and a SAC 2015 Book, It Was Always You which counts twice as a Prequel & Sequel Challenge 2015 Book, For the Win which counts 3 times as a Prequel & Sequel Challenge 2015 Book and a WoW Book, The Hotter You Burn which counts 3 times as a Prequel & Sequel Challenge 2015 Book and a WoW Book, The Search which counts 3 times as a Prequel & Sequel Challenge 2015 Book and a WR Reward Book, Make it Count which counts twice as a Prequel & Sequel Challenge 2015 Book.

So I have 35 counts which translates to $17.50 this week! I'll use it to buy books!

Random Reads #192, July 30th

Random Reads is a monthly meme (that I'm going to do weekly) hosted by I'm Loving Books to read some books that have been on our TBR piles for a long time. Using Random.org, I got 5515 which turned out to be The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson! It's been on my TBR pile since November 5th 2014, and I added it because I've enjoyed her other books! Happy reading!

No Kissing Allowed: Review

From Goodreads:
No kissing. No touching. And definitely no falling in love...

Armed with her besties, an embarrassing number of shots, and her list of 10 Wild Things To Do Before Adulthood, recent grad Cameron Lawson is partying it up before she starts her dream job at New York's biggest ad agency. Her last task? Hook up with a random guy. And while it's so not her style, the super-sexy guy sitting next to her is definitely game. No names. No details.

At least, that was the plan.

On her first day of work, Cameron discovers her hook-up is none other than Aidan Truitt—her new boss's boss. Talk about failing the "no fraternizing with coworkers" policy on an epic level. Especially when Aidan makes it clear their one night was only the beginning. Falling for him could cost her everything, but sometimes the only way to get what you want is by breaking a few rules...

My Review:
It was just really fantastic to read this book! I've enjoyed previous Melissa West books before, but those were YA, and this was NA, and sometimes the genre jump doesn't always work. Worked in this case, because this was such a great book!

There are only so many ways a romance novel can go. What separates each book from the others, is the characters, who they are, what they get into, that sort of thing. And I really enjoyed reading about Cameron and Aidan! So cute!

I really enjoyed Cameron, she who had to win, who lost her dad, is claustrophobic, and it's a combination of those elements that lead to her relationship with Aidan, from their initial meeting, to sharing their stories with each other. Just so great!

That ending, that was just so sweet! That they created that for themselves, and then that phone call that she had with him, that was just too cute! Very sweet and wonderful, and it made for a perfect ending to this fantastic book!

I enjoyed reading this book so much, it was just a delight and pleasure to read!

True, she almost died in the Pyre that fueled their escape from New Salem, and must hide her magic for the safety of everyone she cares about, but compared to fighting the Woven, the monstrous creatures inhabiting the alternate Salem, life is looking pretty good.

Unfortunately, Lillian, ruthless ruler of the 13 Cities, is not willing to let Lily go that easily. If she can’t persuade Lily to return to her world, she will force her to come back by doing away with the ones she loves.

Picking up right where Trial By Fire left off, Firewalker is another sexy, fast-paced, heartbreaking thrill ride from internationally bestselling author Josephine Angelini!

He wasn't civilized or tame. He had his own code and he lived by it.

Monk. Bounty hunter. Vampire slayer. Andre Boroi has spent centuries battling the undead, holding out against the dark with honor. But now, gravely wounded by master vampire Costin Popescu, Andre will be easy to track—his spilled blood marking the killing trail for Popescu and his hungry band of underlings. Andre's only chance is to disappear into the gray mist of the Carpathians. To wait. To hope.

She had a healing touch and a scent that was his lifeblood.

In the mountains in search of a precious crystal, geologist Teagan Joanes suddenly finds herself hunted by those she once trusted. Then she comes across the warrior—wounded, wanting and irresistible. Andre has been craving her for an eternity: his lifemate. Her warmth envelops him. Her scent pulsates. And with every beat of her heart, Teagan surrenders to a passion she can't possibly comprehend.

Now they are bound by destiny, but is it enough to keep them safe from a stalking, relentless darkness that threatens to swallow them alive?

Every Choice: Review

From Goodreads:
Red.
Red is everywhere.
Not just red, blood.
Blood is everywhere.
It is all over me.

Cassie Whitlock has relived that day countless times in her dreams for the past four years. It left more than just physical scars, it has caused her to close herself off to everyone. She no longer believes in love. Love only ends in pain.

That's why when she meets Luca, she is surprised by the immediate and undeniable attraction between them. She doesn't want complicated and she knows he's about to make everything complicated. As their lives become more intertwined, it becomes harder to hide her secrets, and harder to resist him, but when she discovers he has secrets of his own, she begins to question everything. Cassie has to make a choice: hold on to the ghosts of her past or be brave enough to imagine a future.

My Review:
I enjoyed reading this book. I do wish that I'd read it a bit sooner, or a bit later then I did, because the pain from having my wisdom teeth removed, and everything that came with that, effected my reading experience. Didn't effect how much I enjoyed the book, though!

I really enjoyed Cassie and Luca together. They both have their secrets, they both have something by this relationship-but they both have something to gain, and that gain is what triumphed in the end, which was really great!

Yes, their secrets were pretty hard to bear. Who would want to go through things that hurt, even if in the end, it leads to one of the best things in your life? For her, the attack. For him, the lost love. Either way, pain. But then they got each other!

Really fantastic ending, it was rocky there for a bit, but they made it through it, together, once they realized (well, she realized) that they were better together than apart! Really nice to read, and I enjoyed that so much!

Such a fantastic book, and able to read as a stand alone (since I haven't read the first book) and yeah, I enjoyed it a lot!

Week 30 Reviews: Overkill, Eternal Rider

From Goodreads:
Free short stories to update readers on the lives of the Demonica characters.

Wraith and Serena
Tayla and Eidolon - the scene takes place between Sin Undone and Eternal Rider
Kaden and Andrea - these two chapters are included in the ebook version of Eternity Embraced, but are not in the print short story found in The Mammoth Book of Vampire Romance 2: Love Bites
Luc and Kar - this scene takes place eight months after the events of Sin Undone
Shade and Runa - this scene takes place between Rogue Rider and Reaver

Reaver - his scene takes place between Rogue Rider and Reaver

From Goodreads:
They are here. They ride. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

His name is Ares, and the fate of mankind rests on his powerful shoulders. If he falls to the forces of evil, the world falls too. As one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, he is far stronger than any mortal, but even he cannot fight his destiny forever. Not when his own brother plots against him.

Yet there is one last hope. Gifted in a way other humans can't-or won't-understand, Cara Thornhart is the key to both this Horseman's safety and his doom. But involving Cara will prove treacherous, even beyond the maddening, dangerous desire that seizes them the moment they meet. For staving off eternal darkness could have a staggering cost: Cara's life.

My Review:
I enjoyed reading these books so much! The short scenes of couples that we've gotten to know, little insights into their lives after their main story is over (though they still have things to do, which is kinda the point of them!) And then Eternal Rider, the first book of the Lords of Deliverance series! So awesome!

I really enjoyed the updates into the lives of the couples that we've grown to know and love. That was just really fantastic and just so enjoyable, having these events that hey, life goes on, and even though we've seen them in books after their own, these scenes were focused on them, so that was great!

Eternal Rider, oh, man, what a kick off to the series-within-the-series! Such a great beginning, I really enjoyed reading about Ares and Cora's relationship, what with Hal, and the fact of his seal, and her death would cause his seal to break, which would be really sucky!

The way that that things all came together for that ending, that was pretty fantastic! Very smart, and just so entertaining to read it! Just makes me want to read the next book all the more, and so glad that I can do so soon, seeing as this is the end of my week!

Such great things to read, I just enjoyed them so much! And now to read the next book(s) in the series!

Week 30 Review: The Stars Never Rise

From Goodreads:
Sixteen-year-old Nina Kane should be worrying about her immortal soul, but she's too busy trying to actually survive. Her town's population has been decimated by soul-consuming demons, and souls are in short supply. Watching over her younger sister, Mellie, and scraping together food and money are all that matters. The two of them are a family. They gave up on their deadbeat mom a long time ago.

When Nina discovers that Mellie is keeping a secret that threatens their very existence, she'll do anything to protect her. Because in New Temperance, sins are prosecuted as crimes by the brutal Church and its army of black-robed exorcists. And Mellie's sin has put her in serious trouble.

To keep them both alive, Nina will need to trust Finn, a fugitive with deep green eyes who has already saved her life once and who might just be an exorcist. But what kind of exorcist wears a hoodie?

Wanted by the Church and hunted by dark forces, Nina knows she can't survive on her own. She needs Finn and his group of rogue friends just as much as they need her.

My Review:
This was such a fantastic book! I wasn't planning on reading it, but then I saw it on my list of recently added to my nook books when I was looking for something to read, and I thought, yeah, I should read this. And I'm so glad that I did, because this was such a fantastic book!

One thing about me, is that I get anxious energy over unfairness. Which this book had in spades, which means that I was basically bouncing off the walls, because there was so much that was wrong in this world, and there was nothing I could do about it!

I really enjoyed Nina! She was so practical, like the line in the synopsis of her priorities of her immortal soul and survival. It made it stronger, I think, and better equipped to deal with everything that happened in this book!

And oh, did things happen in this book! So many twists and turns, like Finn, like the Church! I enjoyed reading all of that so much! And that there's the seeds for the next book, the demons that want to kill off humans, well, I can't wait to read about that!

This was just such a fantastic book, and now I really can't wait for The Flame Never Dies, it's going to be so fantastic!

Week 30 Review: Earth Bound

From Goodreads:
The #1 New York Times bestselling author of Air Bound returns to the mysterious coastal town of Sea Haven where six sisters of the heart are bound by the elements, and one is stalked by an inescapable past…

After escaping from a cult, Lexi found refuge with her sisters on the farm that more than sustained her body—it nurtured her soul as well. But she never forgot the terror she left behind or the always present fear that the cult would find her again, and claim her. Then her nightmare came true.

Lexi was discovered and threatened—only to be suddenly saved by a stranger. He is Gavriil Prakenskii, and he's awestruck by the woman he's rescued. She is destined for him. He can feel it in his soul. But how can Lexi find happiness with a man steeped in secrets and shadows, one intimately acquainted with violence, and whose very love could be the death of them?

My Review:
Oh, I enjoyed this book so much! Reading it was much faster then Air Bound, and I think that's because of what Lexi went through, that made me want to read faster so I could get to her happy ending! Plus, her and Gavriil were a pretty great couple!

I didn't catch the first time that Reverend RJ was mentioned, well, Reverend, but not RJ. So I was thinking about it, and that he might be the leader of the cult that did this to Lexi. And then went back and reread the beginning, and caught it, so I was right! Makes me so glad that he met the end that he did in Hidden Currents!

Lexi went through a lot. I kinda wish that Caine had had his ending with a bit more page time, because he did pretty horrible things to her, and I wanted him to suffer a bit more, well, suffer where I could read about it, not after-the-fact mentionings!

That one scene, where Gavriil goes to Ilya's house, that was just so cute! I enjoyed reading that so much, of having the second oldest brother (because we finally got the birth order of he Prakenskii's brothers!) meeting the youngest for the first time since their parents were killed and they were separated! So great! And then of course there was action, which was just so great!

Favourite lines: "'Letting you get to know what an all-around great prize you're getting. I come with an arsenal, two killer dogs and skills on my resume few others can ever claim.' 'You're impossible, do you know that? I'll bet no one else knows you have a sense of humor.' 'It's been such a well-kept secret, so much so, even I didn't know.'" Well, now the both of them know now! Yeah!

Such a great and fantastic book, now I can't wait for Fire Bound, and Blythe's book!
