If I know about them, I can't help but judge. Which honestly is why I try to know as little as I can about the authors themselves, just the books. Like, my first two dogs, Dobby and Winky, you know what franchise they got their names. It's been 6 years since Winky passed, and 1 1/2 years since Dobby did, we got them in 2008 when I was in middle school. So I'm at the point where I block out the author's existence. Because if I know, I will judge, and that might take something away from me, but won't do anything to the author on a one on one, though readers vs, the author as a whole is a different story. Your approach is best. Unfortunately, thanks to social media, I've seen a lot of posts from authors about politics recently, and it hasn't been pretty.
