Week 51 Review: The Secrets of Lily Graves

From Goodreads:
With the intrigue of Pretty Little Liars and plenty of romance, bestselling author Sarah Strohmeyer weaves a story of secrets and lies—set in a funeral parlor.

Growing up in a house of female morticians, Lily Graves knows all about buried secrets. She knows that perfect senior-class president Erin Donohue isn't what she seems. She knows why Erin's ex-boyfriend, hot football player Matt Houser, broke up with her. And she also knows that, even though she says she and Matt are just friends, there is something brewing between them—something Erin definitely did not like.

But secrets, even ones that are long buried, have a way of returning to haunt their keeper.

So when Erin is found dead the day after attacking Lily in a jealous rage, Lily's and Matt's safe little lives, and the lives of everyone in their town of Potsdam, begin to unravel. And their relationship—which grew from innocent after-school tutoring sessions to late-night clandestine rendezvous—makes them both suspects.

As her world crumbles around her, Lily must figure out the difference between truth and deception, genuine love and a web of lies. And she must do it quickly, before the killer claims another victim.

My Review:
This was a really fantastic book! I loved the mystery, and the romance, and yeah, how everything came together in this book! There were hints of what was going on, but they didn't seem like they were connected. That they were details added to give depth, not details to give depth connected to the mystery! Loved it!

I really enjoyed the way that this story was told! We got the present, with Erin's death, and the investigation into said murder. And then we got the past summer, where Lily was tutoring Matt, and they formed a connection. Of course things weren't as they seemed, and that came out in the present, but yeah, it was awesome to read!

Loved the investigation! There was the whole "Matt lied" thing. And then there was the way that Erin was killed, and that the police considered Lily a suspect. And then there were the hidden, dropped clues, that were just so freaking great!

This book was just really wonderful! I only wish that it was longer, so we could've gotten more story, and to have these characters have a bit more depth. Because yeah, what reader doesn't want a longer book, if the book is good?

Loved reading this book, it was so great, can't wait to read more by Sarah Strohmeyer!

Week 19 Review: This Is My Brain on Boys

From Goodreads:
Jane Austen's Emma meets The Rosie Project in this quirky, irresistible, romantic comedy from Sarah Strohmeyer, the author of Smart Girls Get What They Want.

Addie Emerson doesn't believe in love. Not for herself anyway. With one year left of high school, she's more interested in snagging a full scholarship to Harvard than a full-time boyfriend.

That doesn't mean she's oblivious to the ways of the heart. Or, rather, the head. Because after months of research, Addie has discovered how to make anyone fall in love. All you need is the secret formula.

But will her discovery be enough to win the coveted Athenian Award and all its perks? (See above, full scholarship to Harvard.) Or will she be undone by Dexter, her backstabbing lab partner, who is determined to deep-six her experiments at their exclusive private school?

Those are the least of her problems now that she's survived a death-defying flight with a mysterious, dark-haired boy, who has delicious chocolate-brown eyes and a few secrets of his own.

With an experiment to mastermind, an infatuated exchange student on her hands, and at least one great white shark (more on that later), can Addie's prefrontal cortex outwit her heart? Or will she have to give in to her amygdala and find out, once and for all, if this thing called love is more than just her brain on drugs?

My Review:
It was so awesome to read this book! It was fully, and Addie was so interesting to read about with her scientific mind, the facts that she knew, the expressions and sayings that didn't make sense to her. It was such a great book!

Loved Addie's theory about love and the brain. That being put into stressful situations with a member of the sex you're attracted to can fall in love because of the hormones secreted. And that she tested it, in multiple ways, was really great! Loved the experiments and how it all turned out!

Addie was something of an evil genius. We knew she was plotting something with Ed, because of the dropped hints. But it wasn't till the end that we found out what was going on! Which was really great, and I think they all deserved that! I just wish that the other two were punished more-they should've been paying money, not Kris, it wasn't fair! Gah!

My one complaint, and it's small, is that I wish that we'd seen more about what bullying Kara had done to Addie. It was there, but it didn't really have any substance, and if we'd known more, then it would've added just that touch extra!

Loved this book, it was hilarious and awesome and loveable! I want more Sarah Trohmeyer books!
