OK, so I got 55 posts in 7 days, it was a decent week, but also weird. But I can't wait for this coming week, I've pretty much finished my TBRs, so I can basically mood read, which is nice! I have a few books that I want to read, to fulfill my yearly goals, so I don't have to rush to try and finish them. What about you guys? Happy reading!

So this week I want to read whatever I want!

Week 47 Review: A Shift in Shadows

From Goodreads:

Secrets can only stay hidden in the shadows for so long.

Nemain is a feline shapeshifter with dangerous skills and even more dangerous magic. Her entire life she has hidden her magic from the fae, daemons, and every other being that inhabits the human realm and beyond. But now her former lover turned enemy, Sebastian, is hot on her trail after she escaped from him with the help of an old friend. The warlock is relentless in his pursuit…and he knows Nemain's secret.

Seeking refuge in the daemon-run town of Emerald Bay on the Washington coast, Nemain works with her friends to ensure she is finally ready to face Sebastian when he finds her. It's only a matter of time until he does. But soon she learns it's not just Sebastian after her, the leaders of the warlocks know about her magic and they now seek her as well. To make matters worse, they've enlisted the vampires to help them.

With her enemies closing in around her, Nemain must fight to keep herself free and her loved ones safe. All while keeping her magic a secret. Because if the fae and daemons find out about her magic and what she truly is, they won't want to capture her. Nemain poses too great of a threat to be allowed to live, if her secrets become known….Nemain's life will be forfeit.

My Review:
I had such a great time reading this book! I really enjoyed the prequel, which really set up my interest in this book beyond what the synopsis gave me. And oh, it was such a fantastic story, I had such a great time following Nemain as her life got more and more complicated!

I'm glad that the rescue was right away, and didn't spend much time on it, that this book is more of the after, of dealing with that pain, but still wanting that revenge for the death of her love, and all the other people he's killed to get her back. Her life was in state of upheaval, and oh, I really enjoyed getting her story!

Seeing where she is after she's had time to recover, the people in her life that are part of her support system, was really great. But that Sebastian is gearing up, and is working with the warlocks and the vampires, puts her secrets at risk of being found out, which could have deadly consequences. Which becomes more and more likely, the more people that find out about them...

That epilogue though? I'm so excited to see what that means, like who is this couple that have been banished? How are they connected, and what is coming up that Nemain is going to have to face? I have so many questions that I can't wait to be answered!

Loved reading this book and I can't wait to continue on with the series!

Week 44 Review: A Shift in Darkness

From Goodreads:

Before she was captured. Before she was saved. Nemain went looking for magic... and found monsters instead.

Nemain has been hunting the merciless warlock Sebastian for decades. As a centuries-old feline shapeshifter, she is well acquainted with dangerous hunts. Unfortunately Sebastian knows her well, and he is always one step ahead. Nemain refuses to give up despite the toll it's taking on her body and soul.

After ignoring their pleas for her to take a rest, Nemain's friends take matters into their own hands and arrange an easy job. To further tempt her to accept, they sweetens the deal – take the job and they'll give her a promising lead on Sebastian's whereabouts when she returns. Realizing that her friends might have a point, and this is the break she so desperately needs, Nemain agrees to escort the magic-barren Kalari back to their home realm on a quest to find their lost magic.

But the realm that had been decimated by volcanic activity isn't the empty wasteland Nemain was told it was. Something still lurks there. Something monstrous… and hungry.

This is a prequel novella to the Lost Legacies series and takes place directly before the events of A Shift in Shadows.

My Review:
I had such a great time reading this book! I really enjoyed getting to know this world and these characters, and I'm so excited to continue on with this series! That ending, I mean, man, yeah, I need to know what's going to happen next!

This world of magical creatures, and different realms, and devourers, it was so interesting to read about! Nemain with her powers and her secrets, and her vengeance, really bought it to life, and I enjoyed getting to know her and this world!

Watching her on this adventure, a detour for her to rest before continuing on with her justifiable revenge, was a great introduction, and I had a great time going along with it! She talks about how she's pretty dark, and that's understandable, what she's been through, and how she holds onto her grievances. And that she's working with empaths, that's a pretty important part of her!

That ending is such a cliffhanger! With what we've been told, she's in a pretty bad situation, being held captive by her ex-lover, and current enemy. I need to know how she's going to get out, because she needs to! The need to know is burning!

Loved reading this story and I can't wait to read book 1!
