Week 49 Review: Lights Out

From Goodreads:
The viral TikTok stalker dark romance, burning with high heat, hilarious banter, and a love story like you've never seen before. Can you handle the ride?

I want someone with a soul as black as night. Someone who would burn the world down for me and not lose a single minute of sleep over it.

Trauma nurse Aly Cappellucci doesn't need any more kinks. She likes the one she's landed on just fine. To her, nothing could top the masked men she follows online. Unless one of those men was shirtless, heavily tattooed, and waiting for her in her bedroom. She dreams about being hunted by one in particular, of him chasing her down and doing deliciously dark things to her willing body. She never could have guessed that by sending one drunken text, those dreams would become her new reality.

I want things most people don't, craving darkness and depravity instead of light and love.

Josh Hammond has spent his life avoiding the limelight, but his online persona is another story. At night, he posts masked thirst traps for his millions of fans to drool over, but one follower has caught his eye: Aly. After reading a comment begging him to break into her house wearing a mask, he decides to take her up on her offer.

Together, Aly and Josh live out their darkest fantasies, unaware that Aly has captured the attention of someone else. Someone with far more sinister intentions than a little light stalking. As Josh turns from predator to protector and the stakes heighten, he must ask himself how far he's willing to go for the woman he's obsessed with.

My Review:
This was such a compelling read! It's definitely not going to be for everyone, with a morally gray lead guy, and what these two get up to between the sheets, but oh, I had to keep reading! Plus, I had this as an audiobook, which was duet narration where they narrated their characters line regardless of whose perspective the story currently was in.

The idea of being into light stalker/mask play, and then having your favourite creator doing that to you? Yeah, it's not going to be for everyone, but it worked for them. Though she didn't call the police, she wasn't exactly the most welcoming of it, since her home was invaded and all. So that was something that they had to work out.

Oh, the way that they played with each other, was just delightful! They were both clever, but he knew more then she did, because of their situation where she had a strings-free fling with his best friend and roommate. Their back and forth with her attempts to confirm his identity, and his counter-measures, I loved it!

That last half, man, it kept going and going, I wasn't sure what direction it was going, but since there was still a good chunk of story, well, I had to know how they were going to deal with this situation. There were some really tense moments, and I wasn't sure how they were going to get out of it, but it was just so satisfying. I mean, it's too bad that it was over so quickly, he deserved to suffer, but at least he's not going to hurt anymore people.

Loved reading this book and I can't wait for more!
