First Lines Friday #391, November 9th

First Lines Friday is a bookish meme hosted by Literary Marie of Precision Reviews. We encourage all of our fellow book bloggers and bookhearts to play along.

-Grab your current read(s)
-Share the first line(s)
-Include the title and author so that other FLF participants can add the book to their TBR Lists!

"It wasn't until I felt the sun on my face that I knew, really knew, I'd made it back. The bright orb drifted up off the horizon like a hot air balloon, blinding me, yet I couldn't stop looking at it. Or, well, trying to look at it. After giving it my all through squinted lids, I gave up and closed them. Let the warmth wash over me. Let it sink into my skin. Flood every molecule in my body. God knew I needed it. I hadn't had a drop of vitamin D in over a hundred years. My bones were probably brittle and shriveled and splintery. Much like the current state of my psyche." -Summoned to the Thirteenth Grave by Darynda Jones

Yeah, this was a fantastic and shocking opening, and much needed after the ending of Twelfth Grave!

I love comments, so comment away! I'll comment back if you leave a post-specific link for me to visit! If you leave that link, I'll always comment back, even if it's like, a month late!

This is an award free blog! Thanks for thinking of me but I just don't have the time to pass it along!
