On Christmas Eve five years ago, Holly was visited by three ghosts who showed her how selfish and spoiled she'd become. They tried to convince her to mend her ways.
She didn't.
And then she died.
Now she's stuck working for the top-secret company Project Scrooge--as the latest Ghost of Christmas Past.
Every year, they save another miserly grouch. Every year, Holly stays frozen at seventeen while her family and friends go on living without her. So far, Holly's afterlife has been miserable.
But this year, everything is about to change. . .
My Review:
Oh, man, reading this book was just so great! I mean, this was a totally different retelling of A Christmas Carol. And yeah, I totally loved it! It was so unique, and took place over a year, a year where she slowly fell in love with the current Scrooge!
I really enjoyed Holly, because yeah, she was a Scrooge-but she didn't think it was real, didn't believe in the lesson, and ended up dying very quickly afterwards. She wasn't evil, but she was a bit mean and spoiled, but most of all, she was trying to protect herself. She lost her mom, then got a materialistic step-mom, and then lost her too. Not fun!
The process of rehabilitating a Scrooge was really interesting to read! Researching the Scrooge, to find the various people to play the roles that were there in the original...that was pretty awesome. And Holly just kinda sidesteps the rules and regulations, which was awesome to read!
How things ended, with Ethan and Holly, it was really satisfying, but also a little bit sad. Things came together really well, but it wasn't a perfect happily ever after ending, because they were different ages. But it was a much better ending than I expected, and it was just so fantastic!
This was just an amazing book and I really enjoyed reading it!
