Week 22 Review: Dare You

From Goodreads:
In the second book of the suspenseful Shade Me trilogy, Nikki Kill becomes embroiled in another mystery where only her synesthesia can help her unravel the dark truth.

Nikki Kill didn't realize that trying to find out who killed Peyton Hollis would tangle her in a web of dangerous family secrets that would rock her identity to the core. But now that Nikki knows the truth, the all-powerful Hollises want to frame her for Peyton's murder.

And now Nikki's only chance at escaping the cold black bars of prison or the crimson grip of death is teaming up with the enigmatic Detective Martinez and relying on an ever-shifting kaleidoscope of clues...

My Review:
I loved reading this book! It was just so freaking great, and after the ending of Shade Me, well, I was really excited to see where things would go! And yeah, this book starts off about 7 months later, so Nikki's had a chance to rest before going on another adventure!

Finding out that she had a sister, Peyton, was pretty huge for Nikki. Her parents held secrets, secrets that were now affecting her. Add in that the Hollises aren't really being punished, well, that was all very frustrating!

I really enjoyed this investigation, because more and more, Nikki leaned on Detective Martinez, and it was really great to get to know him better. And what with Nikki being framed for Peyton's murder, well, it just added that something extra to the investigation!

Things came to a head, and there were some pretty big revelations. Like the Hollises had Dru's mom killed, so shortly after Nikki had met her. It was a pretty satisfying ending, besides Luna. Gah, Luna! And there's still the mystery of Nikki's mom's death!

This book was just incredible, and I can't wait for the 3rd book!
