Week 6 Review: Golden in Death

From Goodreads:
In the latest thriller in the #1 New York Times bestselling series, homicide detective Eve Dallas investigates a murder with a mysterious motive and a terrifying weapon.

Pediatrician Kent Abner received the package on a beautiful April morning. Inside was a cheap trinket, a golden egg that could be opened into two halves. When he pried it apart, highly toxic airborne fumes entered his body and killed him.

After Eve Dallas calls the hazmat team and undergoes testing to reassure both her and her husband that she hasn't been exposed it's time to look into Dr. Abner's past and relationships. Not every victim Eve encounters is an angel, but it seems that Abner came pretty close though he did ruffle some feathers over the years by taking stands for the weak and defenseless. While the lab tries to identify the deadly toxin, Eve hunts for the sender. But when someone else dies in the same grisly manner, it becomes clear that she's dealing with either a madman or someone who has a hidden and elusive connection to both victims.

My Review:
Yeah that we have another book in this series! I think this is one of the longest lived mystery series that are of this length. Agatha Christie comes close, but her longest series was 42 books, which this series has surpassed. So yeah for so much time with these characters!

I really enjoyed this mystery, it has about the opposite from the victims from the previous book as you can get. So it was easier to investigate in some ways, and harder in others. Because Kent Abner is a person who'll be missed by those who knew him. So that was great to read!

When we got the connection between the victims, well, it just kinda made me rage. How dare they, those people who you think wronged you, they were doing the right thing, you weren't. Argh, you deserved what happened to you, they didn't!

The sayings that Eve breaks down, revenge is a dish served cold, apples falling far from the tree, and a bridge too far. I have explanations so they make sense, but I just love how she takes things sayings that we all use, and shows how they might not make sense. Such fun!

Love this series, and I can't wait for the next book, apparently Roarke's past is a part of the plot! So excited!
