Week 7 Review: The Final Six

From Goodreads:
Set in the near future, this action-packed YA novel—already optioned by Sony—will take readers out of their world and on a quest to become one of six teens sent on a mission to Jupiter's moon.

When Leo, an Italian championship swimmer, and Naomi, a science genius from California, are two of the twenty-four teens drafted into the International Space Training Camp, their lives are forever altered. After erratic climate change has made Earth a dangerous place to live, the fate of the population rests on the shoulders of the final six who will be scouting a new planet. Intense training, global scrutiny, and cutthroat opponents are only a few of the hurdles the contestants must endure in this competition.

For Leo, the prospect of traveling to Europa—Jupiter's moon—to help resettle humankind is just the sense of purpose he's been yearning for since losing his entire family in the flooding of Rome. Naomi, after learning of a similar space mission that mysteriously failed, suspects the ISTC isn't being up front with them about what's at risk.

As the race to the final six advances, the tests get more challenging—even deadly. With pressure mounting, Naomi finds an unexpected friend in Leo, and the two grow closer with each mind-boggling experience they encounter. But it's only when the finalists become fewer and their destinies grow nearer that the two can fathom the full weight of everything at stake: the world, the stars, and their lives.

My first review of The Final Six
My Review:
I enjoyed reading this book again! It's been almost 2 years since I first read it, and book 2 is coming out next week, so I had to reread it and refresh my mind on what happened, get to know these characters again! And get pumped for the release of The Life Below!

Leo wants to be one of the Final Six, to have a chance at at new life, his family died when Rome flooded. Whereas Naomi doesn't, because her brother is sick and she's cared for him her entire life. I really enjoyed the different dynamics of these two! And that he's training for the water specialist, while she's more of an engineer. It was interesting being in both of their heads!

Most of this book is training, and the possibility that there might be like of Europa. Well, Naomi learns a bit of what ISTC is hiding, but how knows how far it goes, and what they'll discover, and I can't wait to find out!

That ending was just evil, because there's hope for the future, but there's going to be conflict or it wouldn't be a very interesting book. I have an idea of where it will go, but it's shifted since I read the synopsis of the Life Below, since I thought that Leo would leave pretty much right away. Can't wait to find out what's going to happen!

It's also funny, I read my first review, and I mentioned the ideas of what could happen if she was pregnant, which is pretty unlikely. But it would be a pretty interesting story to tell, being pregnant in space, trying to build a new planet for humanity with untold other obstacles in her path! I have no idea where I got this idea from, since I didn't get it this time!

Really enjoyed this book, and I can't wait to read more!
