The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves at odds with those don't.
As the kingdoms of Erilea fracture around her, enemies must become allies if Aelin is to keep those she loves from falling to the dark forces poised to claim her world. With war looming on all horizons, the only chance for salvation lies in a desperate quest that may mark the end of everything Aelin holds dear.
Aelin's journey from assassin to queen has entranced millions across the globe, and this fifth installment will leave fans breathless. Will Aelin succeed in keeping her world from splintering, or will it all come crashing down?
My Review:
Oh, wow, absolutely loved reading this book! The wait has been just evil, and so reading it was just so satisfying! I loved reading it so much, it's another Sarah J. Maas book, another book in this series, and yeah, it was just wonderful!
The ending of the last book was triumphant. And that didn't carry on in this book, things were pretty down. Like that they didn't want to crown her, and forbid her, basically, from entering the capital. Which sucked. A lot. But Aelin made a promise, and it was one that she kept!
She called in a lot of favours, and saw a lot of doubt, and didn't talk about her plans that were just so layered! There was a lot going on, and a lot of pages, and yeah, that was just fantastic-it meant we have more story!
I loved the developments in this book so much! They weren't always great-like the whole thing with the Wyrd Keys, and the lock, and the story behind that, yeah. Just so freaking interesting! And other developments, like the amount of power she has, Manon's heritage of being Queen of the good witches, and oh, that evil endind that was so cliffhanger-y!
I did kinda miss Chaol, he was only mentioned in this book. But besides him, I think all of the good guys that are still alive who have narrated, were brought together, from all of the books, including the novellas in the beginning. Except the healer lady. So that was really awesome!
I'm hoping that for the "we need a death" thing, either that she splits it, or it takes fae heritage, or the dad of Elena, I forget his name already, does it, because he's just thought of dead. Maybe he isn't, and he can carry the cost, like he was planning! Aelin just can't die!
That ending was evil, and the last book really can't come fast enough!
