Week 25 Reviews: Annie and Fia, Mind Games, Perfect Lies

From Goodreads:
This thrilling short story from bestselling author Kiersten White is a prequel to the psychological thriller Mind Games.

Annie has been blind since she was four.

Suddenly—for an instant—she can see. And what she sees will change her life forever.

Fia will do anything for Annie.

But she never realized how far she would have to go to protect her sister. And now she can never go back.

From Goodreads:
Fia was born with flawless instincts. Her first impulse, her gut feeling, is always exactly right. Her sister, Annie, is blind to the world around her—except when her mind is gripped by strange visions of the future.

Trapped in a school that uses girls with extraordinary powers as tools for corporate espionage, Annie and Fia are forced to choose over and over between using their abilities in twisted, unthinkable ways…or risking each other's lives by refusing to obey.

In a stunning departure from her New York Times bestselling Paranormalcy trilogy, Kiersten White delivers a slick, edgy, heartstoppingly intense psychological thriller about two sisters determined to protect each other—no matter the cost.

From Goodreads:
Annie and Fia are ready to fight back.

The sisters have been manipulated and controlled by the Keane Foundation for years, trapped in a never ending battle for survival. Now they have found allies who can help them truly escape. After faking her own death, Annie has joined a group that is plotting to destroy the Foundation. And Fia is working with James Keane to bring his father down from the inside.

But Annie's visions of the future can't show her who to trust in the present. And though James is Fia's first love, Fia knows he's hiding something. The sisters can rely only on each other - but that may not be enough to save them.

My first review of Mind Games
My Review:
Yeah, it was so freaking great to read this series! I loved the first book when I first read it, and I always meant to read the sequel, but time got away from me, so I had to read all 3 stories, and I'm so glad that I read them back to back! The details were clear, and seeing how they got from one point to the next made the stories all connect together.

All three of these books have Annie and Fia on different timelines. In the short story, it's about the time leading up to them going to the school for Annie, and having been there 4 months for Fia. Then the present day for the both of them, and also the past for Fia. Finally, in Perfect Lies, we had immediately after the end of Mind Games for Annie, and days before the ending for Fia. So great! Keeping track of what was going on was a bit of a struggle but it was well worth it because it's such a great story!

I loved the bond between these sisters. They want to protect the other, sometimes at cost to themselves. They hurt each other sometimes, but they loved each other, and I'm glad that they had that. It caused them problems, but they'd do it all over again.

Oh, man, Fia. I didn't realize what the taps meant until the second book, and then I was confused, and then it made sense, because the timelines messed with me!  But yeah, I'm glad that she got some peace, she's had it rough, and now she can heal. It was a really wonderful ending! A bit open ended, and not what I was expecting, but wow, it was fantastic!

I just loved reading these books, watching their adventures, watch them grow and learn and love and sometimes suffer, but what's a book without conflict?
