Week 42 Review: A Constellation of Roses

From Goodreads:
Perfect for fans of Tell Me Three Things and The Astonishing Color of After, A Constellation of Roses is brimming with a magic all its own—lovable and flawed characters, an evocative setting, and friendships to treasure.

Ever since her troubled mother abandoned her, Trix McCabe has preferred to stay on the move.

But when she lands with her long-lost relatives, she finds out that the McCabe women have talents like her own that defy explanation: pies that cure all ills, palm-reading that never misses the mark, knowledge of secrets that have never been told.

Before long, Trix feels like she might finally have found somewhere she belongs. But when her past comes back to haunt her, she'll have to decide whether to take a chance on this new life . . . or keep running from the one she's always known.

More magic awaits in the stunning companion novel, The Deepest Roots, which Booklist called "a must-read" in a starred review!

My Review:
This book was a really great read! While her first book was about sisterhood, this book was more about family, and putting down roots (which is funny, given that the title of her first book includes Roots, and this one doesn't!) and I really enjoyed going on that journey with Trix!

Trix has had a rough go of it. She's been raised in motel rooms and by foster families, and has been on her own for 6 months after her mom walked out. And then she's sent to live with her dad's family-who she knows nothing about, and that they didn't know about her. Yeah. not a comfortable situation!

One thing that I really loved was a mention of the town from the first book, because it links these world together, and yeah, it was a really nice touch. I really enjoyed it! And it went well together with the McCabe women having abilities!

I really enjoyed Trix going on this journey, the ups and the downs, from some of the things that she stole, getting to know her father's family, her aunt, her cousin, and great aunt. Working in the shop, making friends and maybe more at school. To learn to let down her guard. It was so great to read!

This book was a really fantastic read, and I can't wait to read what Miranda Aesbedo writes next!
