Week 25 Reviews: Siege and Storm, The Too-Clever Fox, Little Knife, Ruin and Rising

From Goodreads:
Darkness never dies.

Hunted across the True Sea, haunted by the lives she took on the Fold, Alina must try to make a life with Mal in an unfamiliar land, all while keeping her identity as the Sun Summoner a secret. But she can't outrun her past or her destiny for long.

The Darkling has emerged from the Shadow Fold with a terrifying new power and a dangerous plan that will test the very boundaries of the natural world. With the help of a notorious privateer, Alina returns to the country she abandoned, determined to fight the forces gathering against Ravka. But as her power grows, Alina slips deeper into the Darkling's game of forbidden magic, and farther away from Mal. Somehow, she will have to choose between her country, her power, and the love she always thought would guide her–or risk losing everything to the oncoming storm.

From Goodreads:
In Ravka, just because you avoid one trap, it doesn't mean you'll escape the next.

From Goodreads:
In this third Ravkan folk tale from Leigh Bardugo, a beautiful girl finds that what her father wants for her and what she wants for herself are two different things.

From Goodreads:
The capital has fallen.

The Darkling rules Ravka from his shadow throne.

Now the nation's fate rests with a broken Sun Summoner, a disgraced tracker, and the shattered remnants of a once-great magical army.

Deep in an ancient network of tunnels and caverns, a weakened Alina must submit to the dubious protection of the Apparat and the zealots who worship her as a Saint. Yet her plans lie elsewhere, with the hunt for the elusive firebird and the hope that an outlaw prince still survives.

Alina will have to forge new alliances and put aside old rivalries as she and Mal race to find the last of Morozova's amplifiers. But as she begins to unravel the Darkling's secrets, she reveals a past that will forever alter her understanding of the bond they share and the power she wields. The firebird is the one thing that stands between Ravka and destruction—and claiming it could cost Alina the very future she's fighting for.

My Review:
This series was really great to read again! It's been a while, like, 6 years, and that's a pretty long time to go between reads. I just read Shadow and Bone again, and I just had to finish the series, so I can continue on reading in the Grisha world!

We learn a lot in these books. About the amplifiers, about the Darkling's, and it was all just so fascinating, and I loved how everything connected in the end! Between that and watching Alina go on this journey, to want to have more power from the amplifiers, but seeing that power is making her into a bad person, yeah, it was just captivating!

I just really enjoyed spending more time with these characters. Especially since there's King of Scars, which looks like it stars 2 of the characters from this series, so that's really great! I can't wait to see more of them and their story!

I do have one question. Did the original guy actually harvest the amplifiers, at least the first two, or did he just create them, and was going to go back once he had the 3rd, but then things fell apart there. Because they're alive for them to be harvested for Alina...

Loved reading these books, and I can't wait to read more!
