From Goodreads:
It is not a peaceful time in the Dells. The young King Nash clings to his throne while rebel lords in the north and south build armies to unseat him. The mountains and forests are filled with spies and thieves and lawless men.
This is where Fire lives. With a wild, irresistible appearance and hair the color of flame, Fire is the last remaining human monster. Equally hated and adored, she had the unique ability to control minds, but she guards her power, unwilling to steal the secrets of innocent people. Especially when she has so many of her own.
Then Prince Brigan comes to bring her to King City, The royal family needs her help to uncover the plot against the king. Far away from home, Fire begins to realize there's more to her power than she ever dreamed. Her power could save the kingdom.
If only she weren't afraid of becoming the monster her father was.
My Review:
Oh, wow, I loved rereading this book! It has such great characters, and a great plot, ad yeah, it's just a story that you just can't put down, and that's hard to forget! Because yeah, I remembered most of the important details like what happened, but not most of the small details.
Loved Fire, and all that she had to go through, if not happy that she was in painful, but yeah, such an incredible journey, how she goes from pretty much being feared, to being a hero, and yeah, loses a few fingers, decides to get rid of her ability to have a child, and yeah, falls in love!
This was a pretty political book, with enemies, and a kingdom, and schemes, spies, and intrigue, and a bit of mystery, the people who's minds are clear, and are different, and who that turns out to be, and how it's connected to Graceling-Leck!
Such a great romance, so sweet, and how it developed naturally, with choices to be made, and not just them, but all of the relationships, from the King who had a crush on Fire, to Archer, and the 2 babies that he left behind in his death.
Yeah, loved this book, loved rereading it, and yeah, can't wait to reread more!
