Ever since his girlfriend left town to deal with her newly acquired taste for blood, Harry Dresden has been down and out in Chicago. He can't pay his rent. He's alienating his friends. He can't even recall the last time he took a shower.

The only professional wizard in the phone book has become a desperate man.

And just when it seems things can't get any worse, in saunters the Winter Queen of Faerie. She has an offer Harry can't refuse if he wants to free himself of the supernatural hold his faerie godmother has over him--and hopefully end his run of bad luck. All he has to do is find out who murdered the Summer Queen's right-hand man, the Summer Knight, and clear the Winter Queen's name.

It seems simple enough, but Harry knows better than to get caught in the middle of faerie politics. Until he finds out that the fate of the entire world rests on his solving this case. No pressure or anything...

My Review:
Wow, man! Harry Dresden can't take a break! But this book was a great way to kick is butt back into action, and out of the slump that he was in, given the ending of the previous book. And yeah, it was great to watch him climb out of his funk!

Of course this mystery was really intriguing, and we learned a lot more about the Faerie in this world. Plus we learn a bit more about the ruling body of the Wizards. And Harry gets sucked into the machinations, since his marker got sold to the Winter Queen. So that's going to cause more trouble in the future, as well!

We did see a few familiar faces, but there was also the group of half human, half faerie young adults. Plus, a face we haven't met before, but that Harry has! Yeah, it was unexpected to met her, but given that she'd been mentioned earlier in this book, I guess I shouldn't have been surprised that she was alive!

That ending! Oh man, was it intense, there was a lot going on-and Harry could've sat it out, but he didn't. And that speaks about how great his character is, that he felt he had to do it. And yeah, there were some really clever moments, and some shocking ones, and it was just fantastic to read!

Really enjoyed this book, and I can't wait to read more!
