Week 11 Review: Up From the Grave

From Goodreads:
There's always one more grave to dig.

Lately, life has been unnaturally calm for vampires Cat Crawfield and her husband Bones. They should have known better than to relax their guard, because a shocking revelation sends them back into action to stop an all-out war…

A rogue CIA agent is involved in horrifying secret activities that threaten to raise tensions between humans and the undead to dangerous heights. Now Cat and Bones are in a race against time to save their friends from a fate worse than death…because the more secrets they unravel, the deadlier the consequences. And if they fail, their lives—and those of everyone they hold dear— will be hovering on the edge of the grave.

My Review:
Oh, this was just a wonderful ending to this series! I mean, it has all the surviving characters, one way or another, and it begins by trying to contact her Uncle Don with he from the previous book, and how he kept not wanting to stay, and then how they had to use Marie?

And how this book starts a bit before the wedding in Twice Tempted? So the leave for the wedding, and we get to see it from Cat's POV, which was great, and then it went back to working on the problem in this one, which yeah, has some personal implications for Cat-that she was harvested for DNA and eggs and blood, and they were testing it, and that's where Brams came from instead of where Cat thought it had come from.

When Bones "died?" That was heart-wrenching, for us and Cat, because she was going to give up, even though she said she wasn't, and when they had that fight, and how horrified he was when he heard that? Yeah, not too good, but they worked through that, and it was just so freaking great!

And then that she was her daughter? And that she had the DNA of humans, vampires, and ghouls in her veins, and the very threat that was the pushing point on Cat turning into a vampire in #4, and then the big problem in #5. Because the ghouls and the vampires have a bad history, and they're afraid, and cowards, that they'd kill a little girl to be secure in their places.

And how they ended it? I just loved that, because yeah, Denise was awesome, and she grew back her head, which is pretty gross, but it saved Katie, and that was just great, and how they're going to live the rest of Katie's life in solitude, because she was supposed to be dead...yeah. Just loved this book!

This was a spectacular book, wrapped up the series nicely, and still there can be other books in the universe like First Drop of Crimson and Eternal Kiss of Darkness. Yep.
