Week 19 Review: Feral

From Goodreads:
The Lovely Bones meets Black Swan in this haunting psychological thriller with twists and turns that will keep readers guessing until the very last page.

It's too late for you. You're dead. Those words continue to haunt Claire Cain months after she barely survived a brutal beating in Chicago. So when her father is offered a job in another state, Claire is hopeful that getting out will offer her a new start. But when she arrives in Peculiar, Missouri, Claire feels an overwhelming sense of danger. Her fears are confirmed when she discovers the dead body of a popular high school student in the icy woods behind the school, surrounded by the town's feral cats. Claire knows there's more to this "accident" than meets the eye. But the closer she gets to finding out the truth, the closer she also gets to realizing a frightening reality about herself. . .

My Review:
This book was really fantastic! The town of Peculiar was such a fantastic setting for this story, it just added so much to the creepiness! And boy, was this book creepy! It was really great to read it, alternating from Claire's perspective, to a few of Serena's, and then the 7 years ago thing! So great!

These characters, they were real. From Claire, who was viciously attacked, and only barely survived, to Serena, who while dead, is still connected to her body, and feeling stuff, yeah, that would suck! And the supporting cast of the townspeople of Peculiar!

There was a vague paranormal aspect to this book, from the Serena thing, to the feral thing with the cats, and how Claire gets close to that, and how that all turned out! That added to the creepy, mystery feeling of this book! So great!

The ending, it was just kinda sad! That how she died, that she wasn't killed, but then she had to to through that, well, yeah, that was not fun at all, and that the guy is still going to be punished because he panicked, well, yeah, that sucked. But all in all, it was a really great ending!

I enjoyed this book just so much! So good, and yeah, I need to read more books by Holly Schindler!
